Great location with lots of restaurants and bars in walking distance from the "old Monkey Beach", now our favorite hotel (Hyatt Regency) with DOX bar & Restaurant. Also very interesting: a KÖLSCH brewery in Düsseldorf ....Always packed ...no hate to feel between the "two forbidden towns" lol. Summertime walking along the Rhine to the old town is a must. Check it out, its worth it !!
Great view of the Rhine river, and some fantastic buildings. You'll find the Frank Gehry building in all the brochures and yes, it is spectacular. How it manages to look different depending from which side you see it or if what the weather is like that day. But there are some really great other buildings. Go up the Rhine Tower. Really, the view from up there is well worth the entrance fee.
I was in Dusseldorf for a quick trip and while I was there I went to the Medienhafen twice. If you're a fan of architecture, a visit is a must and even if you're not, you should take a stroll down the Rhine Promenade all the way down towards the Rhine Tower, Neuer Zolhoff - Frank Gehry's trio of buidlings, Roggendorf Haus, and the Hyatt. Great for photos whether day or night.
I visited it already after dark and was surprised about so many birds songs here and in February. Seemed to be safe and attractive place, especially standing on small bridge and overlook ships going under it. A bit feeling as not in big city.
Now wonky buildings?! Awesome! It's a great place to take a walk with the family or partner, expecially when the weather is good.
Medienhafen- The Media harbour is as good a place to start a tour of Düsseldorf as any. It is a revamp of the old harbour and a wet dream for architecture fans. I understand architecture tours are available. The Hyatt Hotel building for example (the black jagged jobby), is very sexy. If I made films about a dystopian future (we all have our dreams) this is the kind of place I would have the world leaders stand to discuss how to crush the rebels. The Bubble bar in the Hyatt is fun (cocktails and free marshmallows) as is MeerBar in one of the Gehry buildings. I liked MeerBar. Not only did they introduce me to Tokyo Martinis (gin and sake) but I liked how it transformed from restaurant to funky club between ordering the starter and the espresso arriving.
A nice harbour along the rhine river, near the city, nice restaurants, beautiful Hyatt Hotel ... just a really nice place to be :-)
if you want to see modern architecture this is the place to go in d dorf. everything new and designed but not cold and very enjoyable , nearly creating a meditteranean atmosphere. nice restaurants also
媒体港周围有好多很有特色的现代建筑!听说建筑师是德国人,名字就不记得了,但是建筑很奇特,象变形金刚哈哈!周围还有电视塔,游艇^_^
Very original and very pleasing to watch, arranged space with water channel and shores packed with marbles of architecture, as well as the rest of the city full of beautiful, modern, original and practical solutions.
