A must when you are in Duisburg. Good to be reached by tram. In Duisburg zoo you have, beside lots of other animals, koalas, dolphins and meerkat. Once a year there is a runners event where the runners run on the tracks of the zoo along the animals in their cages or theit enclosures,
We went on a quiet day. It was a long walk from the parking area to the zoo, but at least there wasn't a waiting line. Tickets were only 14.50 and we started walking around. A lot of animals were asleep during the morning, and most of the animals were inside. The animals we saw looked quite healthy and there cages/areas looked large enough. The zoo has a lot of animals and the Dolphin show was allright. The end of the show was less spectacular, because it was mainly informational. Overall the zoo is pretty descent. It's good enough to have a nice day.
It was a cold, blustery, icy day at the zoo for us, and we loved it. Watching the interactions between the staff and some of the animals showed that the zoo keepers care both for the animals, and involving the people attending. Meerkat and sea lion feeding time should be seen, particularly if you have youngsters. We only managed a bit more than half of the zoo in ~4.5 hours. Never made it to the dolphin show, although we spent a fair amount of time watching the river dolphin swimming laps.
If one likes zoos then the Zoo Duisburg will not disappoint.Explore the zoo's informative website prior to a visit.Entrance fees are reasonably priced for what the zoo has to offer.Bring time to spend at the zoo, as the areal is big and as the zoo offers a vast amount of animals, including koalas, dolphins, penguins, elephants, giraffes, seals and apes, just to name a few of the many, many animals, big and small the zoo is housing. Some simple gastronomy options on site. Parking is available, yet not right adjacent to the zoo. A low parking fee is charged in certain parking areas. Depending on where you park, a bit of walking to the zoo entrance is required.
Visiting Germany we were amazed of very nice, pretty big Zoo, located near Dusseldorf.Visiting some Zoo in Latvia, Italy, Russia and Tunis here was only one with Koalas and Dolphins.Lovely Dolphins show and absolutely sleeping Koalas :) .As well as others Zoo it has huge diversity of animals, birds and so on.Tickets price is absolutely adequate 36 Eur for family tickets.Car parking near Zoo for 2,5 Eur.
Very nice zoo, plenty of animals to see and a good attraction for the day. Very easy to view all the animals and to enjoy the park as is very spacious. Good day out for all the family
This is a very nice Zoo, here are animals of many kinds, I was amazed when i saw Koalas for the very first time. It is quite good atraccion to enjoy with the family and the view of the beautiful animals you can find here.
Nothing to dislike. All animals could be seen. Great for photography. The dolphin show is fantastic. It is a large zoo and on a hill. So it requires a bit of effort walking, but every enclosure is worth visiting.
A nice place to visit with friends and family in a day.Worth watching the dolphin show and the garden
I had already been to this zoo about 2 years ago and must say that it has gotten even better since then! Last time they were doing some work in the aquarium next to the Pink River Dolphin, which is now open. They have got a really nice but small selection of fish which means there is enough to impress but not so much that you get bored of them! The primate house has changed a tiny bit in that the Armadillo has been replaced by Tortoises - the new enclosure looks really nice but the Armadillos are very entertaining and it will be a shame that they are no longer on display there. The rest of the ape house is as great as ever (although due to the weather most of the apes had decided to remain indoors). There is even a nice lego gorilla which was quite impressive! Finally something which really made my day, and was part of the reason for visiting was the baby Koala! It is incredibly cute and has started eating solid food which we managed to see... This is something which you simply can't see every where so I would recommend coming and seeing it before it gets much bigger... It is absolutely adorable. We ate in the restaurant where the Curry Wurst and Schnitzel were as lovely as ever, but sadly the service was also as miserable as ever! All of the keepers and front of house staff however were very friendly with smile all around!
