We've made a wonderful trip to those to small romantic lakes. We were with our 2 years old daughter and we made the round, which took us 4 hours ( with the speed of the baby). It is a wonderful place to have a refreshing swimming. It is a perfect place to dive and snorkeling under water. If you plan on swimming advised to take shoes for water as the bottom is covered stones. There is a small cafe on the beach , but you can not take away anything, so better to bring with you drinks and food. We were only few days around, but came twice to swim in the clearest water I saw in my life :)
It is a great place to spend a whole day when is hot, with the beautiful view on the high mountains. There is a good place for swim, a quite nice stony beach and very clean water. Close to the lake is a huge car parking (for free), toilets and a bar with cold drinks and something to eat. If the weather is not sufficient for swimming it is a good place for walking or riding on mountain bike (trekking bike maybe won't be proper for that place).
Visited the lakes on a Bank Holiday and the bigger lake was buzzing with swimmers and people lazing by the shore. The smaller lake was quieter, which I preferred. Really nice walk around the lakes.
You must visit this lake if you like to walk where there are many photo opportunities. There are some hills and it will take about 2 hours to walk around both lakes. It is worth the extra walking to see the scenery by the Hinterer Langbathsee.
Beautiful scenery, mountains all around, lakes pristine and perfect, easy walk (no steep inclines) approx. 2 hours around both the smaller and bigger lake, perfect for a family stroll. Only drawback - watch the restaurant "Langbathsee Stuberl" at the outset of the walk: foods are over-priced, apparently no menu (didn't see one posted). When one asks for the menu, the waitress will read down a list of dishes and not mention price.... you have to ask for the prices... and they charge extra for tap-water(!!!) - which is ok if you have your meal without any drink, but should not be charged extra if you already had a paid-for drink with the meal....
Austria has more than its fair share of beautiful lakes, but these may top them all! An tough but enjoyable bike ride up to them and a nice amble around the tracks. The water is incredibly clear and the fish are just amazing, but it may be pretty fresh if you want to swim. Handy to have some food and drink nearby also.
