Ice skating on Indiana's only ice skating trail is the best activity along downtown Elkhart river walk. Excellent parking right at the gate along NIBCO Parkway. And when special events are held, we found nearby banking at the bank. Great to skate on the 500 foot ice skating trail through the landscaping and the many benches. Fun to skate under the lights down to the restaurant and back to the circular rink. The warming house has been expanded and they have 300 pairs of skates for rent plus adult and children size skate trainers. Small concession stand but you can bring your own snacks and use their picnic tables. Best restrooms for on outdoor skating rink. Only draw back is the short season, open from mid Dec. To first weekend in March.
I love urban parks and the Elkhart Island Park is a gem. An island at the confluence of the St. Joseph and Elkhart Rivers with a pleasant walk and lovely bridges to all sides. Grand old homes looking down on the river, people fishing along the shore and fresh, clean evening air. Drink the water at the fountain. Good.
An unexpected serene area in the middle of town! Loved the nice sidewalk along the river and the ice-skating area and water pad for the kids.
The park may be nice on a ordinary day but if you plan to come for a scheduled festival, don't. We came from out of town to the music festival on June 13-15 and drove around for more than an hour and never found any place to park. There were a lot of businesses around the area that were closed with with empty lots and no parking signs. Very disappointed, poor planning on the part of parks and tourism department.
Well kept area. Nice retreat from the traffic and city. Beautiful walk along the river. Several park areas connected. Access to town and walking distance to restaurants.
Is well lit and has some great naturesqe views. Has a few restaurants and a bar on the path and is blocks away from the daily grind coffee shop
City park with nothing much to distinguish it, except that it covers an entire island in the river. Nice place to walk and get away for a few minutes.
this is a nice family area park. good walking trails nice views, good picnic area, great music festival in the summer, nice place for reunions, weddings
Playground, pavilions, huge shade trees, swings to watch the water and geese. It connects to the path downtown.
Take an afternoon to enjoy this lovely Park. Stroll, have a picnic, bring the dog and kids. You'll relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
