Great views are seen here from parking lot and path that leads to ocean/beach. I like to park (if you can find a spot, its popular with surfers.) eat take-out lunch and then take a walk down 101.Just discovered in campground is a little taco stand with tables that offer killer views...my next trip, I will be trying that out :-)Great place to watch the sunset.
From the parking lot - a great view to pick your pleasure - surf, swim, snorkel or chill. Nice reef break and the line up can get crowded. Some good body surfing at the base of the stairs to the left at Dabbers as well.
We live here in Leucadia and will walk here to see our guys surf! This is a primo spot for our regular surfers as well as surfers from around the world! On year we were here at 3 am because the waves were to be huge due to some weather disturbance at the time. We met a surfer from Australia who came just to surf these almost 20 foot waves ! Took a lot of pic of him with his board. It is small entrance next to the famous Swami's Meditation center next door. They have long stairs to the beach. Comming up is a bi---! ha!
just about the best place on earth. having lived here my whole life i guess i take it for granted but can still say that this beach is one of the most beautiful around the north county coastal area.
YOu can walk the actuall beach, which is below the cliffs, or walk along a sidewalk above, which runs along hwy 1 with quite a bit of traffice. Views are great. If you opt to walk on the beach, you would have to descend several stories of wooden steps at Swami's to reach the beach.
My favourite pastime is beach walking and collecting seaglass. I was pleasantly surprised to find a few pieces of glass at Swami's Beach at the lowest tide amongst the rocks at the point. At low tide you can walk from Swami's beach to Moonlight beach - it will probably take you around 1/2 hour. There are over 120 steps down to Swami's beach. The sand is very clean. I had no worries walking around barefoot. Its neat to watch the surfers. I didn't realize till later that this is one of the top 5 places for surfing in the world! Great to watch and if you are there in the evening, you won't be disappointed in the beautiful sunsets.
Ooops, should I have not let out the secret in my title there? This is a surfer kind of beach and you never find very many kids there. But it is great for kids. I've never found rough currents, but there are decent sized waves. There are showers by the beach, and at the top of the many flights of stairs from cliff top to ocean there are clean well kept bathrooms.
There were not many people which was nice. The sand is average, the view is average, the beach is average.
A lovely beach with access down a steep set of stars to enjoy surfers and a long leisurely stroll along the beach and comb for shells or meander with your thoughts as birds fly overhead. The small park is exciting on Sunday with Acro Yogis and drummers. Parking is a challenge ,
Great for surfing and for surfers, and just to view the gorgeous scenery. it's a point break and wonderful place to just take in the sea views.
