very nice and big beach. very clear waters but very deep not suitable for small children .there's a restaurant on site so you can spend the whole there
A nice, beautiful beach, not crowded, close to Kissamos. The waters are so nice, clear, and with a tyrcoise colour! The road to go there is not so difficult -you don't have to cross the mountains, so its easier than the other famous and so overcrowded beaches. There are all the facilities here. The only "negative" is that it is affected by the winds- especially by the West and Northwest , which unfortunately are very common for the area... So the majority of the days there are waves- but never mind if you like to play with them a little!!
If you stay in Agia marina like we did, this beach is much closer then Elafonissi and not as crowded. Good for watersports but if you have small children remember it can get pretty windy here. Nice kittel restaurant nearby beach. Easy to park at parking lot, then just a few minutes to walk to the beach.
Falassarna Beach is heaven on earth...pristine water, golden sand (not too fine that it sticks to everything and gets into every cranny!). When you visit the west side of Crete, you have to visit this beach. It is one of the few beaches that are not totally over crowded with Umbrellas and lounges and people trying to sell you stuff...the best thing to do is pack a picnic....lots of water and your hat and find a quiet cove, spread out your towel and enjoy some real R&R. This coast will also provide one of the most spectacular sunsets on the planet...Crete is one of the dew places on earth where the sunsets truly rival those of the much written and photographed Santorini, and Falassarna Beach is a great spot for such a glorious view...not to mention that sunset is one of the best times to enjoy this beach...the crowds leave and the lovers remain! When walking back up the Cliffside, make a pit stop for a refreshing drink or two, or three....at Orange Blue Bar...great place to drink, dance and meet other travellers and locals.
I believe it is one of the top 3 beaches of the island you MUST visit, no matter what!To my eyes, it is number one! Watch out if it is a windy day... better come another day!
We spent a month on the beaches of Greece and for the most part they are all beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. You can find clubs, bars, restaurants, umbrellas, beautiful bodies, and more... but waves are scarce. We found them here as well as all of the above. It was beautiful childlike fun!! Enjoy.
Falassarna is probably the best beach of the West coast, far ahead of the overrated, overcrowded, Balos & Elafonisi. If you go to the beach after Big Beach (just below Galasia Thea), you'll find a perfect spot, not too big, quiet, with umbrellas and chairs, changing rooms, a shower and a small snack bar. The beach is perfectly clean, the water is turquoise, crystal clear and bonus, there are waves. Can't ask for anything more!
Can be windy with wonderful waves but on a settled day the sea is wonderful for swimming, warm and so clear. Long beach so plenty of room to find a spot pefect for you, Be careful as there are some rocks in the sea but the water is so clear that on a settled day you can see them.
Large, sandy beach. Warm, clear, shallow waters. However, there are quite large waves, so probably not great for children. Only two tavernas, of which we visited the one further down the beach. The fish was fresh and pretty good. Much preferred to Elafonissi!
Very nice beach and nice area around. And a nice drive to get there. Not so crowded in september, god to go by car instead of tourist bus
