I visited this museum last winter while I was in Fairbanks. At the door I received a discount for staying at the Wedgewood, from there things only got better. The quality of the cars was impeccable, the rarity was just as impressive. There were 5 cars in the museum that were the only ones in the world. All of the vehicles ran and were driven once a year with the exception of a couple that they would not run due to historical significance. There was a mechanics garage in the museum with glass windows where you could watch the mechanics maintain the vehicles. There was a lot of period clothing and displays that impressed my wife, and each vehicle had a detailed description on the placards. Several of the vehicles were prize winners, and the range of ages started in the late 1800s to mid 1900s.
We learned about this place through Tripadvisor reviews and though it doesn't look like much from the outside, inside, you can find a true gem! Not only a large display of historic vehicles, but also a collection of ladies attire of the matching period! Note that the museum is open in the winter only one day a week so check the hours, plan your day, and definitely take an hour or two to step in!
I am not a car fanatic, but this museum was great. Interesting even for people who are not that interested in cars.
Everything to like and nothing to not like! This car collection is awesome and I was totally blown away the first time I visited. Almost all the 60+ cars are in running condition and look as if they just came off the showroom floor. Ladies, even if this doesn't appeal to you, go anyway because its also a fashion show of women's clothing appropriate to the era of the cars.
I would definitely recommend a visit to this museum. I REALLY enjoyed the clothing displays interspersed with the automobiles. The cost was very reasonable. Super job folks. Keep up the good work.
Very antique auto and great history behind it. They put it out so well that they got as well dresses for match ! Wow!
This is an incredible antique auto museum. The range of antique cars and the way they are presented is incredible, especially the ones tied to Alaska's history. It's a great place to spend 2-3 hours. Be sure to bring a camera! Sadly, very few people in Fairbanks have been inside the museum, hidden away at the back of a resort.
Greatest collection I have ever seen. Even has clothing of the era the cars are from. Great for the ladies and cars for the guys!
I've reviewed this place before and I cannot say enough great things. There are so many beautifully restored vehicles and older clothing. My daughter, who is five years old, had such a blast too looking at everything. I love how you can see into the shop where they service everything.
from what others have told me this is the best auto museum they have ever been to. they lived in lower 48 and visited may others. I love this place the only one I have ever been to, but it is amazing! I love the people there who can explain about all the vehicles here very interesting, even if your not a big car person. if you are a car person, this is a place you cannot miss while your in Fairbanks!
