You should experience running along the seaside from the unique finalborgo to finale marina And then to Varigotti, a bit posh but nice, not too crowded with apparently clean waters.
Go. Spend an entire evening. It is a destination in it's own right. A medieval town with two castles and a wonderful piazza, it is a wonderful place to explore, have a drink, a nice meal and a gelatto afterward. Located very close to the sea, and surrounded by gorgeous hills, it is a visit that can turn into so much more.
We were advised by the hotel manger at Hotel Maine to try it. It's walkable but the 2 teenagers not keen. The town is walled, trendy, quite a few arts and crafts shops, a few outdoor shops (lots of climbing and mountain biking in the region. We wandered round for over an hour, trekked up to the fort, fantastic views of the sea.Well worth a visit
Ristoranti caratteristici e negozietti.
I can't get enough of the Med food, sun, coffee, aperetivos and friendly people. However, Finalborgo is unique little medieval town in the fact that it also offers the best in rock climbing and mountain biking that anyone can wish for! Italians come to this area for beach holidays, leaving the surrounding hills for us all to play! Get's a bit hot in the summer and very sleepy in the evenings in off-season.
Very nice to walk around the tiny old streets. The interior of the church is spectacular and there's a great ice cream shop in the middle. Unfortunately the castle is closed to the public except for some evening concerts, although you can walk right up to it, you can't actually see very much of it. There are also some cloisters and a museum and restaurants.
