I am not a fan of 'gators nor snakes...I came because my daughter is crazy about any living creature. I enjoyed the airboat ride over Everglades marshland then on to the saw grasses...much spinning and splashing of water...wear a rain poncho to stay dry. I have never seen so many 'gators as the farm has in enclosures (thankfully!) in their farm. A checkmark off my daughter's bucket list...never on mine but I had a better than expected time.
This Alligator Farm is located in Homestead, FL. My boyfriend & I (ages 24 & 28) really enjoyed stopping here for a bit. We were pumped to go on the airboat ride & it turned out to be a blast! We want to own one now ;) You have to go on an airboat ride if you're there. The gal at the desk was not the friendliest person on the planet (she seemed angry/annoyed) but we only had to deal with her for a bit. The baby gators are fun to watch! We also seen an alligator show and an alligator feeding. We got to feed alligators & turtles. We even held a baby alligator. It was fun to just walk around and see all the animals - there's even a cougar! We had a blast.
I was worried this stop on our vacation would be a bit too commercialized, but it we were happy with our experience. We started with an airboat tour. The tour begins at a slow pace with lots of educational information and animal sightings. It then progresses to the faster portion, complete with birds flying out of your path and 360's by the driver. Don't sit in front if you want to stay dry (Drivers did warn all passengers about this). Next, we saw an alligator feeding - which I thought would involve one or two alligators. I was surprised to see that there were at least 50+ present. They also had a snake show and an alligator show. There was plenty of alligators to see and it did not disappoint! Nice little gift shop too.
So glad we decided to take in the Alligator farm and airboat ride . The airboat ride was more than I had expected and gave one a brief but amazing view of the Everglades and vegetation, don't expect to be able to take a video on this as it moves fast and there is a lot to take in.Unfortunately we saw no gators or snakes . River of grass is perfect description of the glades. The guide/driver was very goodThe various collections of Alligators, crocodile, snakes were all well laid out, although there could have been more details on the enclosures containing different ages of gators, loved the baby ones in the nursery they made the cutest sounds. What was the empty mounted enclosure ment to contain.. eggs hatchlings, ..who knowsExcept for the airboat guide the staff did not seem really enthusiastic about their work , just putting in time and the food concession left a lot to be desired of. such a pity
There are a lot of alligators to see! There is an alligator show where you can hold a small one and take your picture. You can ride on a swamp boat and that was fun! You can watch them feed the hundreds of alligators and watch a snake show. Plus a few extra animals in cages. Nice little snack shop and gift shop too.
Went for the airboat ride but saw a few of the shows. Nice to wander and see the gators as well as Florida Panther, beautiful parrots, a large owl. Airboat ride a bit pricey but loads of fun. Yes, you will get wet but not bad, yes it is loud but they provide protection. Kids will love it. Done forget to stop for a snack and try the gator bites
went with my kids and it cost me over 100 dollars for a 5 minute airboat ride. The animals are very sparse and you can do the whole park in maybe 40 minutes. Its ok for a hour or 2 with the kids , just seemed overpriced compared to the other similiar places in south florida
Loved the airboat ride. Our guide was lovely and pointed out different bids and animals that we came across. We were lucky enough to see a couple of gators of various sizes in the water and on the banks. We also saw some wild monitor lizards in the trees as well as loads of wildlife. The kids loved all the stunts out guide pulled with the boat to try and get us wet. The snake and gator shows were awesome and we all got to hold a baby gator... And we didn't feel rushed. Loads more to see in the other areas too..... Well worth the visit!
This was a nice park to see Alligators, but don't waste your money on the boat ride. It's only a 20 minute ride, and not worth the extra price of admission. There are three short shows about 15 minutes each. All the snakes on display and in the show were non-venomous. The shows were too short to be good. The main attraction were the Alligators. There were plenty of them.
I have been to a few alligator farms and airboat rides and was surprised how well this farm is set up and at how good the shows/feeding were. The gift shop was well stocked and there was a concession trailer, but menu is limited. The reptile exhibits were well set up and very interesting. The guide on the airboat ride was the best I've had on any of the airboat rides I've taken before. He answered questions and made sure everyone enjoyed the ride itself with higher speed turns, etc. I would definitely return to this farm!
