I went to this farm just to get eggs because where I usually get them was closed. When we got there I went to look for the eggs and for my surprise they were very expensive $4.00 dollars for a dozen?? I know they are "organic" but still I think the price is very high, however I got them, also we went to "the petting zoo" and I did not like it, it smells terrible and it's obvious that they don't feed the Animals and that they are being mistreated. I'm not planning to go back there NEVER again.
Took the kids (ages 13, 11 & 5) pumpkin picking...the pumpkins patch was great! Alot of great pumpkins to choose from and the tractor pulled hayride to the pumpkin patch added that "Halloween" feel we were looking for....the petting zoo was just ok for me, but the kids loved it...so mission accomplished! We stayed for fright fest and this was the perfect ending! I was pleasantly surprised! They did a great job for only $25....whenever it got too insane for the 5 year old, the actors had no problem breaking out of character for the split second to comfort her or give her a hi-5...10 minutes into athe haunted hayride sand he was just fine! Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Schaeffer Farms....highly recommended and we'll be coming back!
Very nice people and very good qualities...old time farmers that have create also a playground for childrens and adults
I have always wanted to start reviewing places my family and I go to, but never got around to it. Today is my first review because honestly it was so upsetting. My 4-year-old has been wanting to go to a farm especially to see animals, pet them feed them. We live a few miles from Schaefer's and went there today with my sister-in-laws and their two young girls. The lady at the front was okay, not rude but definitely not at all welcoming. The lady and gentleman in the back by the animals were straight up rude. I will never EVER go back there again, and I will advise anyone thinking of going there to not to. They have a huge sign at the front that says "support your local farmers." I'm sorry, but if you want support, you're going to have to get rid of your attitude.
This is your typical farm stand but they do offer special events and activities during the year. God selection of fresh produce and plants. Nice to go for pumpkin picking in the fall. Fright Fest and Holiday lights are very well attended.
I visited Schaefer Farms with my family for the Halloween inspired hayrides. This was my second time there. Last year, we went closer to the end of month and on a weekend night and the time we had to spend on line waiting was very long and tedious. This time, we got there on a Sunday, right before it opened and went right in. It is a fun time! It is well organized and nicely done. You walk through the corn fields as well as ride on the rear of a tractor. If you frighten easily, be prepared to scream as monsters come out when you least expect them. Last year, the entry fee was $20 per person while this year it was raised to $30. The experience is the same so I'm not sure why the cost increased considerably. If you're looking for some Halloween fun, it is a nice experience although a bit costly.
Great place to take a hayride to the pumpkin field and visit the petting zoo and other family attractions.
Christmas time is the only time I ever go here because of their drive thru Christmas light display. Nice drive thru display, but need to change it up a little each year. For the past 3 years, same stuff as prior year.
In Hunterdon County there is not a lot of big displays but this display that is put up for the Christmas Holidays is a must see. At the end you can have some hot refreshments and enjoy the atmosphere.
I grew up in Hunterdon County, and have visited Schaefer Farms many times throughout my lifetime. While the spooky attractions have been altered, the lightshow is now their winter event and their farmstand products change from time to time, there is one thing that has always been consistent. Every single time I have been greeted with smiles and a welcoming atmosphere.Every year I make it a tradition to adventure into their Frightfest. Every year I am given a new experience while also recognizing and remembering their classic scenes. Most notably that scary demonic big rig truck that chases after you. It never gets old and I am excited every time it see it. It is true that they do reuse some of their other horror scenes but they always add something to change them up so while familiar it is also a little different. As you enter the frightfest and you begin your journey, the screams from people already experiencing their nightmare gives you a glimpse into what you are in store for. While the experience is frightening, they also add some humor into the mix. This keeps you motivated and makes you wonder what to expect next. Should I mess my pants or prepare to laugh? If you're looking for a good scare along with a good time with a date or your family, this is the place to go for Halloween.
