While vacationing in the area; we stayed at the beautiful Belterra Hotel; the secret little floating casino was the surprise of our trip. Had a great time gaming with some new friends.
stayed overnight, room was very nice and not smoked filled as I had read previously, I had asthma that week and was worried but the room was a nice respite away from the smoky casino. The food buffet was excellent for dinner and breakfast and the servers were always there to help with anything. Even filling up coffee cups as soon as we drained one. Casino was a little tight but no different than any other casino. that's why they call it gambling...
This is the smokeyst casino I have ever gone to. You put your money in and you are done. The slots don't even try to keep you playing with little wins. There signs are very deceiving. Please don't waste your money.
I know, I know it's a casino, but the smoke ruins it for me. The non-smoking room was tiny and drinks were EXPENSIVE.
My wife and I are very frequent gamblers,we have been to Belterra many times. But over the past several months we have been going to Horseshoe and Frenck Lick (closer to home),but last weelend we traveled to Belterra had to get new cards and noticed our status had went up one level.Great we thought,so we went to kiosk and swiped our cards and WOW all my accumulated money and Comps and disappeared?I asked and the girl said they get erased at a certain date? They don't do that at other casinos...I think I had 40 bucks cash and some dining comps.I told my wife if I owe someone 40 bucks and I don't see that person for a year don't I still owe them the 4o bucks?????Anyway we think it sucks and will try to stay away from Belterra ...
Enjoyed our visit. Room was clean and comfortable. The only thing we did not like. We could not find anyplace to eat breakfast except the buffet. We decided to eat a the buffet. It was good. Many choices but we do not eat much for breakfast so it was not cost affective for us.
I've not been to many casinos, so I can't say how this one compares, however, I wasn't really impressed. After hiking from the parking lot, to the hotel, then down to the boat/casino, I noticed a substantial difference between the quality and upkeep of the hotel and the casino. It definitely is showing its age. The smoke was nauseating, the ceilings were low and the rooms very claustrophobic. I saw only one bar on the boat and I was surprised no one was making rounds serving drinks. It was interesting to do something different, but I don't anticipate returning.
We arrived at the Hotel and had a lovely room on the 11th floor. Unfortunately, it smelled of smoke. The maid came and sprayed and offered to put an air purifier very promptly. We were satisfied with that. Then, we had to call the maid again because our bathroom toilet was quite unacceptable. They came right away again, and cleaned the toilet. We were satisfied but distressed that this was necessary. The casino reeked of smoke. There was a very small non smoking area. The ventilation system seems to need updating. Most disappointing was that the VIP lounge was also filled with smokers. We are not used to this living in Louisiana where this is not allowed. We were subjected to smokers no matter where we were. We went to an invitation only brunch at the steak house. The food was outstanding!! Everything was high quality, first class!! This definitely made our trip along with the wonderful show we saw. This brunch was better than any Las Vegas hotel and the best I have every had.I have to commend the entire staff. Everyone was helpful, and any problem was quickly solved. I just wish they could keep at least the hotel and restaurants free of smoke.I don't think I would go back there because of the smoke and the casino itself.
My husband and I LOVE staying at Belterra for the rooms, food, and spa. The casino is the least exciting thing but maybe it's because the slots seem a bit tight. It is very smoky, but there are options for non-smoking rooms to play in. The free drinks (non-alcoholic) are nice at times and there is a good selection of slot machines. What irks me is that many times, you will have someone playing 2 or 3 machines at a time and when you ask them to move, it becomes a hassle. There are clearly signs that say to limit play to 1 machine during peak time. Hmmmm...Guess some people can't read or don't care. If you need to use the ATM as a debit or credit machine, be prepared to pay a hefty fee, upwards of $20 or more. They run good promotions, but the complimentary slot tournament we were invited to was a joke. Overall, this is my favorite casino and we will continue to go there. You can't go with the idea set on winning because that doesn't happen often, but if you go for fun, you should have a blast!
We went to the casino because we had a few great offers. They make it very easy to use the offers that they send to you. Won some money and had a great time.
