While the museum is actually a combination museum and store, it is a definite must for a stop during any visit to Virginia City. The store owner (or one of them) is a really nice lady who loves to tell you stories of what they are minting. And their work is excellent. My first visit years ago, I bought one of the angels and this year, a commemorative ingot. The actual presses were not working this trip and that is fun if you get a chance to see that.
Very interesting. Lots of great things to see and are tempted to buy. Another must see in VC
Nice Virgina City silver bullion to take home. Prices are a bit high but you gotta love the selection.
The Marshall Mint & Museum is really a collectable coin, currency and jewelry store, which mints its own commemorative and bullion coins and ingots, plus a museum that contains gold, silver, minerals, gems and related items. The museum appears to essentially be the private collection of the family that owns the store and mint and, coupled with the items for sale, was actually quite interesting to look around with a number of informative displays. Even though we showed no real interest in making a purchase, we were treated warmly and never rushed. Considering admission is free, it is certainly worth a stop when visiting Virginia City but note that photography is not permitted inside the museum.
We always stop in here and visit with the owner and buy a few sparklies! The museum is fun to wander through and is well kept up. The owner is very friendly and loves to talk about the history and the silver mine. They get all the silver for the jewelry from their own mine. It is very reasonably priced and hand made. After several visits I own quite a few pieces and I always get compliments on there whereever I go. Take a few minutes to look around and maybe pick up something for yourself or someone you know would enjoy it!
This is a neat store/museum. The staff is very helpful and the jewelry selection is huge! (Great prices and deals too!)
Always do my Christmas shopping here, as my wife loves amber jewelry. This place has about the largest selection of amber jewelry in Northern Nevada. You will not be disappointed, as the prices are very reasonable. Would not recommend the "museum" though, but as a jewelry shop, it is highly recommended.( Hope my wife doesn't read this, as then she will know where I shop!)
If you're into coins, gems and jewellry this is a great place to visit. They have a huge assortment of gems and coins in the musuem and if you collect coins they also mint their own. It was a neat little place to visit with beautiful things.
The building is a little confusing upon entering, it looks to be just another gift shop/souvenir store but on the other side is the museum. A little small, but hey, free admission.
Loved the Jewlery they had so much to choose from and the prices where great and the sales where better.
