The Naval Aviation Monument Park on the oceanfront in Virginia Beach (25th Street and Atlantic) is a beautiful memorial that pays tribute and honors aviators, past and present. Stately and clean, this monument park is one of the best we've ever seen. The Norwegian Lady statue also stands in front the monument park, overlooking the ocean. A must-see when in Virginia Beach!
Excellent monument honoring the history of Naval Aviation. We especially appreciated it because our son is a Naval Aviator.
Very well kept. Clean and friendly. Quiet and relaxing. Lots to read and educate your self on. Tour of the ship Wisconsin was very interesting and worth the ticket price. Gift shop was well-stocked and very well organized by catagory with merchandise.
For aviation buffs, military aviation enthusiasts or former Naval Aviators and those that "kept 'em flying", this monument is well worth a bit of your time. Located on Atlantic Ave. on the beach side, the black granite depicts aviation history as well as our fleet of aircraft carriers, past present and future. Life-size bronze statues of aviators and maintainers are also depicted. For those of us who spent any time in the aviation Navy (mine, 20 years+), this will definitely bring back fond memories of shipmates and times spent in the service our country. I came away with a feeling of pride that said "Yah, I was a part of this."
With the US Navy connections to the Virginia Beach and Norfolk areas this was a really nice memorial and also does its best to explain what the US Navy does and what the families go through for long periods of time whilst on Deployment.Always looks good in the sun and the evening light.
We were in Virginia Beach to see friends. One of whom is a retired naval aviator. So this was a must on our to do list. And we weren't disappointed. Very poignant. Well worth a visit!
If you are interested in US Naval history you will enjoy this monument. Many historical facts displayed on the several granite displays. Definitely worth a visit as you walk along the boardwalk.
Go visit; it's worth the time. Naval Aviators and people with Norwegian ancestry will get two for one.
For anyone that is interested in aviation, you should absolutely visit! It is very conveniently located on the beach side of Atlantic. There is plenty of history here as well as what is potentially in our furture. Def a must see.
It was worth the stop really, and it is educational. A nice little treat before out other plans, I would do it again!
