Very pretty place to enjoy a walk. Cute little shops line the canal. Went on a friday night it wasn't crowded. Love the different little bridges this whole town is such a cute town.
Checkout the Carroll Creek Parkway with tons of local eateries, boutique shops, public library, National Museum of Civil War Medicine and water lilly filled creek! You won't be sorry you visited this super historic Main Street of Frederick, Maryland.
We spent the evening strolling around downtown Frederick for Fire in Ice. Eventually, we ended up at Carroll Creek where the creek was completely iced over. I thought about trying to walk on it but then thought better of it. Instead, we just enjoyed the ice sculptures and fire from the burner of a hot air balloon on display. Sadly, we never did manage to venture across Market Street on the Creek outside of La Paz where we would had been able to enjoy the Ice Throne & Playground. Oh well, I guess there's always next year.
A staple of how a community can make things look great! Wonderful job! Cute water lilies environment with cool restaurant and bars. Oh, and bridges. Great place to hung out.
This is quite a contrast the historic area of Frederick but well worth a visit. There are fine examples of Tromp l'oeil around the city but take a stroll along the water and admire the lilies and the art work, it is truly exceptional. Of course the bridge is marvelous. There was some construction in the area and it looks as though they are extending the walk. It'll be beautiful.
This area is great for a stroll after doing some shopping. Either work off some of the food you enjoyed or work up an appetite as you take in this artistic stretch of the canal that offers something new and exciting every few feet.
At the south end of Market Street, we enjoy red this pleasantly landscaped waterside walk. Bring some food for the giant carp who swim beside the bridge. Beware there is not much to find in the old town south of here.
A very nice walk along a canal. Well designed for an enjoyable view of art, scenery, shops, fish, and the lotus were blooming (of course, this is seasonal).
Reminds me of the beautiful Riverwalk Park in Greenville, SC, but on a much smaller scale. We enjoyed walking along the creek watching ducks and the goldfish among the arranged plants. We discovered that Frederick is a very dog friendly city, we will bring fido next time. Enjoyable visit.
This man-made, sidewalk-lined canal runs through downtown Frederick. There are interesting historical markers, koi in the canal, and great shops and restaurants along the canal. Loved it!
