I only thought we would be in there for a few minutes but we took 90. Being local and a diver, the shipwrecks are often known to me so of great interest. Entry is free but we were more than happy to pay the suggested $5 donation.
Went to the Shipwreck Museum in Fremantle. A very interesting insight into the Western Australian coastal wrecks. Excellent displays and a few really informative videos to assist with understanding the work and efforts that go into restoration.Free admission with a request for a donation - can't get any better than that. Well worth a 1-2hr tour.
If you are intertested in Australian history then this is for you! I learned more about early nautical history here than anywhere I have previously visited. Amazing artifacts from shipwrecks which predate Cook. In oparticular the remains of the Batavia. The museum is free!
it was amazing to see all the bits and pieces of shipwrecked ships. And also how they got back to land :). Even the kids enjoyed it thoroughly.
Not only does the museum contain a couple shipwrecks, it also has large ship models and authentic cannons. If you have some time, read the profiles of the numerous intrepid explorers. The history associated with these crews is also fascinating. The admission is FREE but you may offer a small donation. The museum is stop 17 on the Blue Cat bus.
His is a great museum to wander through with the kids. During the holidays activities are run such as treasure hunts and various crafts this summer it was a treasure map and pirate ship and they cost $1-$3 per activity. My kids love these and the staff are always fantastic.Parking is close by as is the beach, parklands and fish and chips. Always a good day out and we return almost every holiday, so much so that the school holiday staff are starting to remember us.
I cannot praise this museum too much, both for the wealth of information and quality of display, but particularly for the Batavia exhibit. I was informed, engaged and entertained and would visit again were I in Freemantle.
这是西澳大利亚的沉船博物馆,这里展示了一些重要的沉船残骸和物品,对研究西澳大利亚的历史非常重要,作为游客也是觉得非常有趣!
Good information available on displays, you can browse through or really stop and study the information . Affordable and welcoming school holiday activities.
The museum is full of really interesting artefacts from ships that came to grief around our shores, and as you walk around the rather mundane entry hall there is nothing there that prepares you for the spectacular Batavia Gallery. This alone is worth making time to visit the museum - Absolutly fantastic!!But don't stop there, because it really has an interesting story to tell.
