The best thing about this museum is that it focuses exclusively on the paleontological history of Vernal and the surrounding area. There aren't as many dinosaur skeletons as I anticipated, but the atmosphere is very interactive and fun to explore. If you're in the area for Dinosaur National Monument, I highly recommend you take an hour to two to visit this museum. Well worth the entrance fee (btw, not expensive!)
Highly recommend visiting here before you visit Dinosaur National Monument's quarry section. You will have a far better appreciation of the formations and the animal and plant life of the area at the time the fossils were formed.
This is a great place to visit -- for children and adults alike. We were visiting the area for a few days with extended family, including 7 young children -- and everyone loved this place! There are educational displays and galleries as well as "hands-on" activities for the kids. And the "dinosaur garden" outside is amazing. There are helpful folks around if you have questions. Check out their website for more information -- or ask at your local hotel. Plan on at least two hours to see all they have to offer. Several members of our group commented afterwards that they were surprised to visit such a high-quality museum in Vernal. It's a must-see attraction if you're in the area.
New and well organized little museum of the area. Staff is friendly and at the time I visited was a very laid back place. I imagine in the summer is much more harried due to the "dinosaur" seeking crowd.
The outside park was fun, but there seemed to be a lack of dinosaur fossils inside. We have the Utah state parks pass which included this place, but if we had to pay for it I would be upset. The here's a better museum in Blanding!
Nice museum in town with lots of info about the dinosaurs. Easy to navigate with great models. Great for an afternoon visit after being outside.
Excellent overview of the entire region. Great intro for all ages with special attention to kids. We loved the museum 15 years ago and were astounded with the new location and updates. A must-see for the area.
There are halls here dedicated to geology and anthropology and natural history, with numerous interesting exhibits. There is also a dinosaur garden with life-size replicas of dinosaurs.
For modest Utah SP entry fee, well worth two hours among several rooms of outstanding exhibits detailing fascinating history of dinosaurs. Outside garden features full-scale dino models. Right on south side of highway, plenty of parking.
This is a nice museum with plenty to do to keep the kids occupied. They had a lot of interesting displays. It is a nice low cost afternoon activity.
