It is right outside the exit of xiziwan MRT station. A good place to visit as it is not a train museum but also has a huge flower field that makes whole place colorful. Local kids and adults are playing kites there.
Take your time to take pictures here with the train and railway track. Be creative with the poses. We took a few jump shots and had fun at this park. There are also art pieces on the field that you can take pictures with.
On exiting the MRT system en route to the Arts district on the pier this was a quick diversion that lay right in my path. Take a few minutes to browse the artifacts, all well preserved and take in the low-key feel inside and out by the locomotives. Didn't move me strongly but for what it is it is a fine effort at preservation and sense of place on a small scale.
We stopped in Kaohsiung as a port of call on a Princess cruise last spring . We took a shuttle which brought us to the Takao Railway Museum . We went in the Museum for about 20 minutes and it was an interesting visit ! What was more interesting though was the fact that : 1) the Museum is right beside the starting point of the city bus sightseeing tour ($0.75) which runs every hour and provides a guided tour of the old part of town 2) the Metro Station is right beside the Museum and from there ,one can get very easily and cheaply to the center of town and see the Dome Light on the way 3) the Pier-2-Art Center is at the back of the Museum , some displays being common to both sights So this is why we say that it was the perfect location for starting our visit of Kaohsiung
A small museum with old trains which are well preserved. Admission is free. Pleasant place to visit!
Few types of train with introduction to the history of the station. Big park with some art pieces installation. A lot of kite flying and children playing around. Good for family with children or those interested in trains' history
