Thank you so much for visiting our business. I see you were here in August, the height of tourism season for us. I am very sorry that the bartender spoke fast- that is his personality. It comes in handy more times than not.The reason the still as not running during your visit was because most distillery's do not distill during the summer. The temperatures can be to hot for fermentation. We are running the still 7 days a week currently. As far as the female bartender who whisked the bottle out of your hand- that would be ME. I didn't mean to be offensive or busk. We only keep one bottle of each product on the bar due to theft, so I must have needed the bottle to pour another customer a sample.Lastly, the bottle may read aged 18 months however we are currently on our 5th bottling and it has been aged 6 months in small format barrels. (there is a formula for aging 20 days per gallon) then moved to large traditional barrels where it has been for 2 years.
This was our second visit to Red Eagle since they opened. (We go to Geneva to visit the wineries, but it's great that there is now this distillery and also a brewery all on one road!) I was pleased to see Red Eagle is now making vodka (from grapes), so I ordered the martini of the day (pomagranate). Very tasty. Our group enjoyed having drinks on the patio before wandering to the next winery on our agenda.
Want to learn more about whiskey, bourbon and rye...and taste some great samples made on site. You definitely will in this rustic but inviting setting owned by the same people who have made South River Vineyards (The 'Church' winery) such unique and delightful destination!
This distillery was a great find along the winery trail in the area. There were only 2 kinds, but my husband loved both (I am not into bourbon so much). He also had a cocktail. Beautiful barn setting. It was a little expensive (thanks to silly Ohio laws). The bartender/owner was very friendly and fun. We'd definitely stop again and purchase some more bottles.
Great service, thorough explanation of their process, very nice people. As a bourbon afficianado I was impressed. I will certainly return!
Looking for a unique place to have cocktails. Red Eagle Distillery is a must. As you walk in the wonderful woodsy aroma hits you. They offer a vast menu from fabulous Martinis to unique bourbon cocktails. This was one of my favorite stops. Would highly recommend !!!
I'm not a regular consumer of bourbon or rye, but a side by side tasting helped me pick my favorite. Fantastic distillery with a nice tour and the drinks they make with their spirits are simply delicious. They were very under staffed the day I visited, but worth the stop and worth the wait.
My husband and I were with a group from The Lodge, and our wine shuttle briefly stopped here as part of the tour. Our entire group of 14 liked it so much, we paid the shuttle driver to bring us back after the tour was over, and even skipped part of the 3rd winery to stay here! The smell when you walk in the door is amazing, such a warm and cozy feeling. They also have drinks that girls and guys both like, straight bourbon but also chocolate martinis and also fun drinks like the Cherry Buckaroo, with Johnny Cash music playing in the background. No, there is no indoor pluming and you must use the "Outhouse" outside if you have to go. That makes it somewhat fun and themed in my opinion. If we are ever in Geneva again (I'm 100% sure we will be) we will make this our first and last stop! Or we may just stay the whole time.....
This was a nice surprise since our last trip. My husband loved the change from wine. He bought a bottle to take home. Very good.
