In addition to the creativity of the history display of Gig Harbor there are always a special display along with a great gift shop and special events for members
If you live anywhere within a 30 mile radius of HHM, go ahead and become a member. There are wonderful exhibits that don't take much time to digest. The exhibits change frequently and the talks and special events are a plus! The staff is always welcoming, and the gift shop has something for everyone.
This is a great little museum in the harbor. Wonderful history of the fishermen's village of Gig harbor including a small school house. Hands on opportunities for every age! Takes about an hour to thoroughly view the exhibits. I was impressed with all they packed into that small building.
This museum is very well organized. The displays are clear and informative. Learning is fun at the Harbor History Museum. The exhibit change regularly so there is always something new to see
We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed the visit to Harbor History Museum. We hope that you make it back again sometime, especially to check out our new exhibits or special programs!
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your comments. We are constantly striving to provide innovative and engaging programming for audiences of all ages and encourage you to attend some of our programming if you return to the area. The Shenandoah, our current restoration project, was built in 1925 and provides museum visitors and volunteers the opportunity for hands on learning. If you have any suggestions on how we can better your experience in the future, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the museum at 253-858-6722 ext 7.
As fairly new residents of the Gig Harbor area, my husband and I are big fans of the Harbor History Museum. We have visited several times, and always find something new to enjoy. We've noticed that there are plenty of hands on exhibits for children, and we plan to take our grandkids to the museum when they come to visit. The recent Savage Ancient Seas exhibit was amazing!
We are so glad that you had a great time!
We are so glad that you enjoyed your visit to Harbor History Museum. We hope to see you at the museum again in the future!
There is something for everyone here, interactive exhibits for children, video stories from fishermen, boats to visit, a working 120 year old school house that still has visiting students, and traveling exhibits to name a few. It is easy to spend 2 or 3 hours enjoying the living history of the Gig Harbor area. If you have relatives here you can research their background too. I would highly recommend this for first time visitors to the area as well as long-time residents!
