The statue is nice but there are better picnic areas. Have a quick look at the statue but don't miss the information centre about 50m away and check out the Gunsynd museum at the back. Racing enthusiasts will love it. Our guide gave us first hand memories. Great photos, complete history and some of the Goondiwindi Grey's trophies. Not to be missed if you enjoy anything equestrian.
Great to be able to appreciate the work of others in reminding us about our history.Tucked away from the general traffic.
The Statue near the river and the history we learnt when visiting the Victoria Hotel where the syndicate was formed to purchase and train this famous horse.
It's nice they have a monument to Gunsynd. It's down by the river in a beautiful spot but someone has broken the light sadly, so that should be attended to soon.
This town is proud of its achievements. Gunsynd was a horse to be very proud of and the locals have done him proud. Enjoy!!
A great little museum with a complete history in the exhibits of the Goondiwini Grey, there are trophies, photos of wining races and many racing trophies, well worth a visit
It is a pleasant spot by the river with benches and the historic bridge nearby. I am afraid that statues do little for me but the river view is fine.
A lovely spot to sit and relax, enjoyed reading about the famous horse and the peace and quiet sitting beside the River.
While not a grand monument by any means this statue is set in a small park on the bank of the river and is a nice quiet spot for a break on the way. Picnic and BBQ facilities are present as are public toilets. Horse racing fans will find more historical interest in the monument. For those who aren't it is a nice spot to break a drive and stretch the legs along the river bank or have lunch.
Situated in beautiful Apex park beside the river ...a trip to, or through Goondiwindi wouldn't be complete without stopping for a photo with the Goondiwindi Grey!
