What a great experience we had, not the typical trail ride at all! The owner David Lamb takes you out personally on very trustworthy horses and leads you up the mountain where you get to "ride through history",riding the same trail Jefferson & Madison rode, as well as on the battle grounds of the Civil War.David shared a lot of stories/history of the area. Sure hated to see the ride come to an end.
We had a wonderful time on our horseback riding adventure. The owner is a wonderful man with great stories and tons of personality. You can tell this is his passion and what he has been doing forever. There were 4 of us, some had no experience with riding, so it was a nice easy walking trail around the property, about a hour long. So you don't have to worry about riding if it is your first time, they make it easy and have some fabulous gentle horses. The trail has great history back to Thomas Jefferson and James Madion as well as the Civil War- how cool to be riding so close to history. We will enjoy going back to visit again and ride again when we can!
Was in Charlottesville for a baseball tournament. Had an afternoon off. Found this place and called for a trail ride. They set up an extra ride for us ... Waited for us to arrive from c'ville.Put us on two nice horses and off on the trail we went. The owner talked the entire time, explain all about the farm and the region. The dog followed us all the way. This is a true place for family fun and adventure. The owner says they have rodeos tooGive it a tryReal nice people
Best trail ride I have ever done - David took us on a beautiful trail ride up and back down the mountain. He was very nice and informative giving us some civil war tidbits related to the very grounds we were riding on. He was very confident in what he did which made us very comfortable with him. Such a great a value and fun experience - thanks David!!
Had a wonderful relaxing morning trail ride with my husband. The horses were beautiful and gentle. Rode up and down the mountain on the same trails Thomas Jefferson and James Madison rode so many years ago. A lot of history shared with us by the trail leaders. They had these 2 dogs that ran ahead of us on the whole trail and would jump in the ponds and chase the birds, they were so cute and created lots of laughter. I would definitely go back again.
What a great place! It was our first time horseback riding and we had a wonderful time. The farm is absolutely gorgeous with lots of space and a picturesque trail. I'm a very nervous person but my horse was SO intuitive and skilled I felt like a pro by the end of the hour-long ride! We went out with four ladies who were knowledgeable, very sweet, and made us feel comfortable. Definitely something you HAVE to do while in town!
David and Sally Lamb are incredible horse people and love to share their love of horses with others. The horses are well trained and well cared for and the rides up the mountain are so much fun. If David is your guide, you will learn a lot about the history of the area, from the Indians through the colonial era to the Civil War. Ask him to show you some of the artifacts he's found up on the mountain over the years.
If you like horses and riding this is the place. The trail riding is excellent. You can ride English or Western. The horses are quiet but not dull. David is as entertaining as he is informative. The facilities and the horses are all top quality. There is a lot going on here in addition to trail rides so if you are looking for something to do with horses contact David. If he doesn't do it he will know who does.
Was a total blast! The owner goes out on both rides everyday and you can see and hear how much he loves what he does everyday!
My wife and I went horseback riding here while staying at the KOA in Charlottesville. The lead guide was David, but I was in the back and Rachel was the primary guide back with us. She was excellent and a lot of fun. The ride includes a very informative history lesson on the area and gives you an idea of what it would have been like to ride between Montpelier and Monticello. I highly recommend it, especially if you can get Rachel and David as guides!
