Make sure to make several stops while driving up the mountain. Many beautiful views to take in, and visiting during the autumn months provides wonderful colorful scenes.
Another nice area to go and visit. It is a beautiful place and you may as well see as much as possible while in the area.
Woods, waterfalls, picnic areas, place to fish,- It's all there with good roads and without all the traffic.
We were too tired to drive to town so we went to the Sunday night buffet. It was overpriced and overcooked but the ice cream was good.
Very nice hiking trails that are well marked, our favorites are the trail around the lake and the trail from the lodge at Unicoi down to Helen.
I am a trail runner. Having the opportunity to run the trails two days in a row was awesome! Much of the Helen trail runs along the creek there and was wonderful.
We did not really find this to be worth the money, though we enjoyed seeing the falls. Perhaps if we had tried other trails we would have enjoyed it more. We didn't have a lot of time to spend here.
Very strenuous mountain bike trail. Nice hiking trails. beautiful lake at entrance of park. Camp grounds appeared to be well maintained.
The rooms are updated and so much nicer than they were prior. Even the dining and surrounding areas were updated with new furniture in all the sitting areas. We visited right after Christmas and every floor that had fireplaces had roaring fires in them and the mantles were decorated so nicely for the Christmas Season. It was very inviting, cozy and what you would expect a north georgia lodge to be. There are several easy trails to hike around Unicoi. We got a kick out of hiking the trail down by the squirrel's nest accommodations. This was one of the most unusual camping areas I have ever visited. There are many levels of covered wooden platforms so that you aren't sleeping directly on the ground. Just throw your sleeping bag down on the plat form and truly experience the night sounds of the owls in the woods and perhaps other creatures... I guess it could be a bit scary as some people have stated seeing bears there. There is really no privacy at all since the platforms are all out in the open with no enclosures so you will have others possibly camping on the platform right next to you. There are 16 platforms and each one sleeps four.On the ground below the platforms you will find picnic tables, grills and a fire pit. We didn't actually stay there but hiked to it and checked it out.
Unicoi is really a pleasure to visit. So pretty and the lake is serene but I bet it is hopping in the Summer. We are looking forward to renting cabins there next year too
