木の作りの昔ながらの洋館。文明開化と呼ばれた時代にタイムスリップしたようでした。その時代に気持ちをはせ、楽しいひと時を過ごしました。
Just a small building and nothing much to offer... But good to see...
this is a mixture of russian and western wood architehture with some japanese elements. Truly eye-catching
On the top of a hill, this old restored building is a delight. When I visited there were lots of Japanese young ladies in courtly dress having their photos taken in this regal magnificent hill top location. One could imagine the views the dignitaries had from the veranda overlooking hakkodate bay. Evocative
Just a short walk up from Perry's Square, is the grand old timber building of the Old Public Hall painted in Grey and Yellow, a congenial blend of Japanese and Western cultures. We did not enter the building due to rushing to view Mount Hakodate before dusk set. The signage at the gate of the building states "Concert in Old Public Hall" - Hakodate Ensemble Lab Concert 2013. Overall a lovely view of Hakodate city and harbour area from the lawn which are lined with blooming flowers in the garden,
The edge of the building is gold or yellow, so the building is outstanding. The interior is chic, so you may feel as if you are VIP. If you enter the building early, not just berfore the building close, you may be able to take photos of yourself with the costumes like noble class.
This is well worth a visit. The whole area is full of historic buildings which together evoke the feeling of an earlier/smaller Hakodate. From the Old Public Hall you also get a beautiful view of the nearby harbour area. Allow for about an hour to an hour and a half to visit the area.
Very nice building in park. We had a performance with our dancing group during festival in front of this building and it was pleasant experience. Nice location for have a relax and view on sea and part of Hakodate city.
the building is attractive from outside view due to the English style architecture, painted in bright yellow & blue. The interior exhibits the room that the royal family once stayed & a deck from the 2nd floor that provide a nice view of the Hakodate port
