April is my favourite month for hiking in to view the waterfalls. The flow volumes are at their best and the sights are awesome. With over a hundred waterfalls in the Hamilton area, we are blessed to have this natural resource. We have visited 20 or 30 including the larger waterfalls and my family cannot get enough. With some planning you can visit 4 or 5 in one day. It can be a one hour excursion or the entire day. Its your choice depending upon how many you want to see.
One of the very best things about visiting/ living close to Hamilton! There are so many to discover and tons of hiking trails. It's a great way to spend a day off!
I often say Hamilton is a terrible place to visit but a great place to live. The City does itself no favours at times but the trail system and scenery are great if you live there long enough to appreaciate them.
Hamilton has over 120 waterfalls......from Webster's Falls to the Devil's Punchbowl it's a fun and exciting adventure to explore.....I believe the City of Hamilton website lists all the waterfalls in the city -- some are in parks and you can have a picknick while others are view platform sights! Enjoy the falls of Hamilton!
Hamilton has a plethora of water falls, all picturesque. Whether their frozen or running abundantly they are all great for the photographic mind.
With Hamilton being "sliced in two" by the Niagara escarpment, Hamilton is blessed with a multitude of waterfalls - large and small. They are everywhere. Some only appear in rainy seasons - some are a constant presence. For anyone interested in nature and/or hiking, and planning to visit Hamilton, it would be worthwhile researching the waterfalls on line to plan the best experience. One could spend a lifetime trying to find them all.
I love the outdoors and since moving to Hamilton I was thrilled to learn that there are over 125 waterfalls and they are still counting! Despite many of them being somewhat underwhelming, on private property, or fenced in, it's always nice to explore unknown trails and woodlands regardless. Some of the falls are spectacular and most of them are not over-crowded with people. My four grandsons always love an outing with me to find a new waterfall. There are a number of good guide to help you find the various falls. Google's your friend...
Hamilton has the best waterfalls around, but a word to the wise - STAY ON THE PROVIDED TRAILS!!! My friend and I decided to climb down a little closer to one of the neighbouring waterfalls a little ways down from Tiffany's falls (maybe Sherman or Ancaster??) anyways... climbing down into the forest provided a great view! BUT unfortunately there was a hornet's nest in the ground where we were walking. We were lucky there was another hiker close by to help us, but my friend was stung upwards of 25 times! (She's okay, but it could have been much worse!). Better safe than sorry! Stay on the trails provided!
Just one of the many great waterfalls around Hamilton. very interesting to see it in a frozen condition.
Recently spent a few days in Hamilton and accidentally came across a reivew of the city noting it has 127 waterfalls in the area. Went on a bit of an adventure to find a few and discovered Webster Falls and Tews Falls (near Dundas) as well as Tiffany Falls and Albion Falls (in Hamilton). Three of the hikes/walks I did were short and simple, so would be good to do with families. Only Albion Falls was somewhat steep to get to the bottom, and had to be careful as there are no rails, so would not recommend young ones or those with mobility challenges to go to the bottom; there is a lookout point right beside the road. Each waterfall is unique and beautiful in its own way, and makes for beautiful pictures. Being early December, the water is starting to ice over, so there are the beginnings of ice on nearby tree branches as well as icicles hanging on rocks. I enjoy nature and exploring, so this was a fun project to do. Should I go back to Hamilton, I hope to be able to locate more waterfalls. Who knows, maybe eventually will be able to visit each one. Note: though there is no fee to see the waterfalls, many parking places charge for parking the vehicle.
