Traveling in the area and went to the river. You park on a farm and a bus takes you to the location. The price is the same for all boats chosen. You pick from 3 miles or 8 miles. 8 miles took us 3 hours in a canoe and we didn't make any stops like many do on the banks. Most people brought coolers with beers which was not an issue. A great day to get outside and float down the river with family.
Now that our children are older it can be hard to find something to do that everyone enjoys. Our kids are 32-16 years of age. We tried this for my 31 years old twins' birthday. My husband and I got a canoe along with one son and a friend. Three of the kids with friends' and spouse got double kayaks. We had one odd person who still had a great time in a single kayak. We did the 8 mile trip. The water was moving pretty good so really not much paddling was involved. There are places to pull over along the way. There is a rope to swing off and a cliff to jump off. Its a very popular area but plenty of room for everyone. Alcohol is allowed and you will probably run into a few who have had too much but it is very relaxing. We plan to go again for another sons' birthday in July. Its twenty dollars per person. They also have a three mile trip. One of double kayakers changed to single kayaks at the three mile mark. We got on the river around 11:30 and didn't leave until 5:30. We all cant wait to go back.
First we'd like to thank you for the compliments! We do the best that we can. I would like to know if you have asked for assistance? Our staff has been trained to give our customers their "space" and to only assist them upon request. They can not automatically have contact with customers due to liability reasons. Please ask for assistance next time that you feel the need and if you don't receive it please let us know so we can address the issue. Thanks, Sharon. :)
The staff at Green Acres is very nice to everyone and they go our of their way to make sure everyone has an enjoyable time. We have been going there for many years and we have always had a great time Kayaking on the Whitewater River.
Green acres is the place to be. Kayak livin' is the life for me. Whitewater spreadin' out so far and wide Keep Cincinnati, just give me that 8 mile ride! I can not stress enough how much my family enjoys our trips to Green Acres Canoe & Kayak Rental! There is truly no place we would rather be. When given the option of a week long vacation out of state -vs- a summer of canoeing & kayaking on weekends, Green Acres won easily with our family! So much to do and so much to see! We like to dig for clams, find crawdads, fish, swim, float, build sandcastles, explore and of course we always take a picnic lunch. There are different types of islands to stop and relax-sandy, rocky, mix of both and wooded. Last trip we had the pleasure of having two of the bald eagles fly over our heads!
Thank you for the nice compliments!
Great people and great clean river, have always had a wonderful time and the prices are very affordable.
I felt I needed to respond to Rhonda’s post. I know exactly the day she is talking about, Sunday July 21, 2013. My family was also at Green Acres on this day. We kayak/canoe regularly and can guarantee that this particular day was NOT normal! We were surprised at the amount of cars in the lot as soon as we pulled in but were efficiently directed where to park. We were even more surprised by the lines! In the 5 years we have been spending our summers at Green Acres we have never EVER had to wait for a canoe. I checked with the owners of the facility and they admitted to having a record breaking day. From an experienced point of view I feel that the staff was on top of the situation and I felt that we were quickly directed where to go. There were two female employees helping patrons with the life jackets but we chose not to wait for them. We come often enough that we don't need assistance but for people uncertain what life jacket is appropriate for their children there are signs posted regarding sizes/weight. I appreciated the honesty of the staff when they informed us of the possible length of our wait. Thankfully the wait wasn't bad because the kids were kept entertained by exploring, seeing the chickens & rabbits and their favorite walking down to the river and throwing rocks in. I thought the pre trip talk was satisfactory (life jackets, shoes, don’t jump off cliffs or swing on ropes, don’t litter etc. and the driver asked if anyone had any questions afterwards. I definitely agree with Rohnda that I did overhear many conversations that were NOT child appropriate. There were a lot of “parties” on the river that day. I personally asked two different groups to “tone it down” and “watch what they say around my kids” as we floated past them. Both groups apologized and complied but did get loud again once we were past them. I do know from experience (might be something the facility could think about advertising) that it seems more “family friendly” to go early in the morning when the facility opens. Families are finishing up as the younger “party crowd” arrives. As a side note, I know it’s not always possible but if you have the opportunity to go during the week you’d be surprised at how peaceful and quiet the river can be! I must mention I continue to be impressed with the dedication Green Acres shows regarding improving and keeping the river clean! Their entire concept of teaching children the importance of improving the quality of our environment is commendable. There are signs posted reminding people not to litter and for convenience the facility provides “potato bags” to put litter in and a place to dump it afterwards. As a fun incentive kids have the opportunity to earn their “Otter badge” and a FREE popsicle for picking up litter they find. In addition, it doesn't happen too often, but if the kids are lucky enough to find a tire stuck in the sand that’s a treasure in itself because you get a free game of putt-putt for hauling it back in! My children, my husband and I love going to Green Acres and even though that day was crazy busy we did have a lot of fun and will positively be back on a calmer day!! .
This is a great stretch of river to paddle. There are several bald eagles to see along the trip, along with other beautiful scenery along the way. The Green Acres Staff is very friendly and helpful. They seem to really care about their customers.
The staff was so nice and Dave the owner was terrific! I would recommend this place because the prices are reasonable and the kayaking is a blast I will bring my kids back many more times thanks for the great time
