This small chapel is worth the visit. The architecture is pretty amazing and it's a peaceful refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
Imagine the busy center of Helsinki, where you just leave one of the large shopping malls, then you stumble upon this gem in the middle of the city. You go in and the silence touches your soul. After 10 minutes you will leave refreshed and replenished.A piece of the nordic genious.
The interior design was nice and the entrance was free, so no complaints. It is not much action packed into this visit, but who would assume such - it is a church.
Really easy to get to ...Run errands to or from ...This architectural structure is in the middle of the city, next to shopping, buses, trains, hotels, everything. Its simple beauty feeds the soul and body in a bustling city. Whether it's the proportions, details, textures, light or the silence that occurs internally - the effect is like taking a soft breath realising you'd been without air. Design for the people ...
Solace in the hustle and bustle of the city center shopping area... Do not expect much, simplicity in the design is the key!
This is a small, but very different chapel. The architecture itself is very different from anything I've ever seen, and the atmosphere is relaxing and inviting. Unlike other "strictly Christian" chapels, this one was open and inviting, stating that it was a place to relax and take a break from the stress outside.
To echo a previous reviewer its "Free and Quiet". Worth a visit and at least in my experience people respect the Silent bit unlike down by the harbour at the Lutheran and Uspenski cathedrals. Not sure why this is number 4 as an attraction but there you go.
From the outside it looks more like a sculpture but upon closer inspection you'll notice the entrance. Once inside you can experience complete silence in the midst of a busy capital city. The design of the room feels warm and secure. It really is a special moment. When I was there a man came rushing in grabbed a pillow and sat down and closes his eyes. Not praying, just taking a moment of silence after work before going home. The chapel is non-religious. It is not dedicated to a specific religion. You can find both the holy bible and rhe coran there if you feel like studying ;)
Even that I'm not into churches this one really gave me a smile. Its very enjoyable to go in since there is no decoration and you can enjoy the silence.
A tranquil oasis in the middle of the city. Beautiful. Small. Not very comfy benches - perhaps for a reason (so people don't fall asleep...). Definitely worth a visit to unwind and gather ones thoughts.
