Looking for a spot to let our toddler run we found this hidden treasure just over the bridge from Tarpon Springs. Beautiful beach, lovely majestic trees dripping with Spanish moss...and historic markers detailing the presence of native peoples, European explorers and early settlers.
Right on the gulf at the estuary of the Anclote River meeting the ocean this park sports white sand beaches and ample covered pavilions for picnicking. $2 entry fee. Good bathroom facilities. Cordoned off swimming perimeter. Great osprey viewing. I recommend this for a noon picnic to be followed by a dolphin cruise in downtown Tarpon Springs.
to this great coming out here you never know what furniture me fine. With the Eagles are out now so it's great to see them and their nests
Not crowded watched the sunset from the pier and saw several Dolphins swim by. A little something we didn't expect
Great place to fish from dock or land. Catch snapper, trout, pompano, cobia and more. Ospreys nests everywhere.
This place is awesome!! It has a large section where you can swim, and if you go later in the day, you just may see a family of dolphins too. There are also docks for you to bring your boat or other watercraft. Showers, bathrooms, and a separate building where you can change in/out of your swimsuit. Very clean beach and water, some shaded areas, and some picnic tables. Also a playground to wear out the kiddies before the ride home :) Bring snacks, sunscreen and towels!
Clean park my wife and i live down the street and run through it often. We also put our boat in at the boat ramp. It gets very busy when the weather is nice.
Although this is on a river it is right at the Gulf. Beautiful white sand beach with covered pavilions for eating which is a good thing since the seagulls swoop in and will take whatever you are eating!!! Although that seems to be a problem on a lot of the beaches. There is a roped off area for swimming. The cost is $2 for the entire day. You can also launch a boat here for $5. It is fun watching the boats coming and going from the gulf down the river. Just beautiful!!! There is a volley ball court but you better wear your sneakers or bring a tweezers to pick the stickers out of your feet. Swings and playground for the kids. Pelicans constantly fly by all day.
Anclote River Park is a great place to spend the day enjoying the outdoors. Beautiful sunsets near or on the pier, fishing on the pier or sandy riverbank, birds flying in from nearby nature preserves, playground area, dog park, picnic tables and grills, and hiking trails via Key Vista Park on the far end. Several evenings were spent here birdwatching and people watching. Simply bringing a chair and sitting on the sandy bank will provide entertainment as people are fishing while standing in the river, on the riverbank, or from kayaks and boats. Pelicans are awaiting handouts. Herons are helping themselves to fish freshly caught before fishermen and fisherwomen can reel them in. Take a look at the photos I've provided to see for yourself.
My family and I moved to the area this past summer and have slowly been checking out the local parks and other places of interest. Before visiting Anclote River Park, we went just up the street to Anclote Gulf Park. While the Gulf Park was okay, we enjoyed this park much more! Here is both the good and bad:Pros:-Large park-Beautiful views-Lots of facilities (boat ramps, beach, restrooms, picnic tables, playground, grills, etc.)-CleanCons:-$2 parking fee (though its a one day fee and good at all county parks that day)-The beach area is nice, but plan on swimming in more of a river than the gulf.-If you have young children, watch them carefully on the playground. While most of it is fine, there are some monkey bars with fireman's poles where younger children could easily slip and fall and get hurt. I'm not an overprotective parent by any means, but this was noticeable to me.On the day we visited, there were mainly boaters taking advantage of the boat launch. Otherwise, we pretty much had the place to ourselves (Thursday evening in November). The water frontage is very large with lots of places for our young kids to run around and let loose of their energy. I've included a number of pictures from our visit. If you found this review helpful, please let me know by clicking the button below! Thank you!
