This hike started around 6:30 pm. My five year old daughter and I,along with 4 other family members absolutely loved this tour! There are really no words to justify how beautiful, amazing, and exhilarating this hike was. It would have been amazing in and of itself, and then they topped it off with a wonderful dinner! It was a great spread of cheeses, crackers, bread, fruit, salmon, deli meats, and deserts. The yurt was cozy and warm as well. The staff made this tour one that we won't forget!
Went mountain biking with my boys here. Beautiful area. We stayed on the easier trails which were still a little challenging for the 8 and 10 year old boys. Some of the trails were not marked very well which caused some confusion when we were headed back to the car. But overall, a really fun experience. We had a blast but watch the weather as we were on the mountain when a storm started to blow in. I had a flat so we had to really push to get back before it dumped on us,
Oh, this would definitely be a higher rating if only there was better snow cover. Beautiful surroundings, spectacular view of Wheeler Peak, but when we skied there less than half of the trails were skiable, despite being open. The yurts were great to warm up in that were cozy and welcoming. We will be coming back when the snow flies.
Evening lumineer walk under the stars with snow shoes or cross country skis was absolutely fantastic, if you happen to be in town Christmas you must go. Went cross country skiing for the first time on groomed trails, felt more like telemarking than cross country skiing... but the only other time I've been cross country skiing was on trails. The staff is SUPER friendly, informative, and helpful. Scenery was very nice, but nothing jaw dropping.
Beautiful area to learn how to ski cross country. The folks doing the day to day operations were just lovely. The small group classes were just right for someone like me who has never been on skis before. Bob was our instructor, he was great, really took the time with us newbies.
Friendly people, beautiful trails, well maintained, this is the nicest place, and we come back every year, do three days, 1-3 hours each, before heading into town for a date with Texas Red's!
The trails were well marked and the equipment was very good. The scenery was also great. Remember it's high elevation, so you'll need to adjust to the lower oxygen at first.
My friend and I went for the Christmas night luminaria trail and stayed in the Little John yurt. It was amazing. The owners and staff were friendly and helpful. Snowshoeing through the luminarias at night in the snow was an magical as I'd heard it could be. The yurt was great too. Toasty warm with everything we needed. This is my new Christmas tradition.
What an awesome snowshoe trail. Gorgeous scenery, lots of wildlife and various animal tracks everywhere! The warming Yurt was so incredible and relaxing after a long trek. The sofas and wood buring fireplace was an added bonus. Everyone of every age should experience this if physically able. It did not disappoint and neither did the wonderful staff and their canine helpers!!
Nice people running a small scale XC operation. I may be biased since I've mostly skied at Royal Gorge in CA for the last 25 yrs. The tracks were only fairly set but then the temperatures were rising so the snow was melting. Good selection of skis for rent at good prices for rentals and trail passes. My GF skied for free because of her age which I'm not at liberty to reveal. ;-) We crossed a lot of snow shoe trails so they seem to be quite extensive; your day would be filled up more with that than skiing if you are intermediate or above skier.
