I haven't been in a few years, I thought the admission price was a little expensive when we visited, but you will learn a great deal about the culture, wetlands and our area.
While trying to kill some time in Houma I decided to stop by the Waterlife Museum. The museum is small and has restrooms and a nice gift shop. There is a $3.00 fee to get in. Most of the attractions are interactive and they give a good representation of the importance and history of Terrebonne Parish. Not surprisingly most of the exhibits are local delicacies. Turtles, crawfish, nutria, shrimp, oysters. They are all here. There is a lot to read and also some old pictures which I enjoyed. Surprising to see a paddlewheel ship up a tiny bayou back in the day. There is a small exhibit on the oil industry and how it interacts. The museum houses some relics from the history of the Terrebonne as well. Overall this museum is small but interesting. Kids will probably enjoy it more.
This is a good representation of Acadian culture. Small museum and a neat building on the bayou. Would be neat if city could absorb the fee for tourists, but it is not expensive and kids enjoyed it.
Very educational for young people. Big beautiful alligator mounted for you to see. Beautiful pictures and bayou scenes. Enjoyed everything. Good job guys!
I love this place and so does my daughter. Very educational with some interactive exhibits. Great place. Educational and fun. A must visit.
Pearly, the manager is wonderful. She goes beyond her duty to help you enjoy the museum. The museum is a hands on museum and you will learn a lot about local culture.
This small museum had a rocky start to fruition, but the experience is entertaining and educational. Worth a 40 minute visit for sure. Lots of kids oriented displays.
Got all the local and bayou information we needed to better understand the area. Wonderful little place to spend an hour in looking at and listening to the exhibits.
