I've gone on a couple rafting trips with Wet Planet, and they were both really fun, life-affirming experiences. It's neat to see how much the guides and other employees enjoy their work; they have a lot of fun with each other and with the rafters. Everything was really easy; they provide the gear and give plenty of instructions to ease your worries. They're very clear about how to paddle and move around in the boat so it doesn't tip, but they can also laugh it off if you don't do it right. Based on conversations I've had with people who've rafted elsewhere in the U.S., they seem to take safety pretty seriously, which I really appreciate. They also take candid photos at two points, and they're hilarious to look at afterward. You get pretty cold by the end, but they have hot tea and coffee in the shop afterward to warm back up. Great experience, I highly recommend rafting with Wet Planet.
I had a tremendous thrill riding the rapids on the White Salmon River with the Wet Planet crew. I rode with Devin and he was not just a genius raft captain, he is a funny money....watch yourself, never mind. He made us laugh, then made us feel we should contact our families before we went over the category 5 waterfall before leading us through the perfect to the fall and we dropped over like ancient river hunters landing from a high drop propelled by real rapids. It is not to far from Portland (about a 1 hour drive) but the Columbia River Gourge is a different world. Do go, if you have occasion. You will not regret it, unless you to chose to disembark from the boat to skip the waterfall. They say only abut 20% of the rafts flip over going over the falls but I suspect you have athletic skills, timing and are a good listener...yes, go over the fall.
This was our 3rd trip on the White Salmon with Wet Planet. Their business is superior in every way. Experienced guides, perfect equipment and friendly staff. We forgot our fleece. No problem, they loaned us fleece tops. We bought this trip 2 years ago and had to cancel for 2 years but "No problem". They honored our trip this year. Not a leisure trip. It's a technical trip with big water but safe if you follow your guide's directions. Love the fact that they put in 2 miles upriver from everyone else giving you a longer drift. We will definitely be back again, maybe try the Wind River or Klickitat River next time.
Our guide Drewfor was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and funny and made the trip for my family and I really fun. It was a great experience and I would love to come back!
This was my first experience white water rafting, and I chose Wet Planet due to some great reviews online. I can definitely say after having rafted with them, that the reviews were spot on. The people were all really great and the rafting experience was one of my favorite things I have ever done. They provided a free wet suit, "parka" to keep the water and sun off your upper body, booties, and a helmet. I brought my GoPro, so they even gave me a helmet with the clip pre-installed to attach my GoPro to it. The whole river was great, especially the part where you have the option of cliff jumping (do it!!). The waterfall at the end was great, no one flipped in our boat, so I highly recommend you brave all of it out if you are capable as it was all such an awesome ride.
This was an exciting rafting trip. Down the white salmon river - narrow river - many exciting rapids. Guides very helpful. Made sure everyone understood safety aspects and how to handle anything that came up. Biggest negative is that its very cold water. 40 degrees - all year long. You wear a wet suit but you will still get cold - especially if you're in front getting splashed. But its worth the cold to experience the rapids on a beautiful river.
We have whitewater rafted several times and this was by far the best operation we have gone with. From online service to a couple of questions by phone - helpful and professional.Upon arrival everyone was so nice and welcoming. We had a newbie with us who was a little nervous but that quickly subsided. Safety information (and quiz......don't worry - they keep asking until you get it right - they want to be sure that everyone comes back in one piece) is well done and the reminders along the way are needed as you just get so wrapped up in the fun.The falls had only been open a couple of days when we went and we opted out. Okay - we wish we did it!!
Awesome trip with a great and funny guide (Tony) We rented a Go Pro, totally worth the money, check out the video here: http://youtu.be/IJeIDwuL-h4
I had a blast on my first whitewater rafting trip. Our Wet Planet guide Gigi knew exactly what she was doing and seemed to know every feature of the river. All the guides and support staff help you with the gear and are very careful to make sure you know everything you need to in order to stay safe. They are having fun and make sure you do, too. The scenery is just gorgeous. And Wet Planet begins their trips further up the river so you get to see more and don't miss out on some great rapids. The water is perfect; cold, but you have the gear and wetsuit they provide you with, so who cares? I was totally impressed with how clean and crisp it was--pristine. My daughter and I loved the whole experience and had a great adventure together!
