One of the largest beaches in Waikiki. Great for kids to play on, beach rentalls. Snacks and rest rooms are available at the Hale Koa hotel.
It's not the best but it's not the worst. My friend's sister in law took us since she has a military ID. Sand was kind of hard, and not too overly crowded compared to Waikiki. We decided to have a drink at the bar, and got a lava flow which was excellent but couldn't really taste the alcohol. We wanted to order food with our waitress who came to our table and she's like you can't order food through us you have to go to the restaurant (it was off to the side of the bar). I started to wonder why have a menu that's on the table with food and drink if we can't order it all at once? Not a big deal just thought that was odd. We also parked in the parking lot across the street which had a lot of parking which was nice. I don't know if I would go back it was ok.
My first thought is…. What a duty station, second thought was what a nice park!Great quiet park right on the beach and a respite from the bustle of the hotels and traffic on the main drag, feel free to bask under a shade tree or park it in the sun. MP’s were walking around so didn’t feel like there would be any funny business going on. We spent several hours there watching people pass by and the volley ball games that were constantly being played.Suggest you visit the park after a stop in at the Army museum. You can’t miss it, it has tanks out front…..Oh its free also (thanks taxpayers!)….
Nice for kids due to the play structure (in the shade) and shade/grass everywhere, picnic tables, calm & quiet and hardly anyone there! Nice beach at this location too; there is a bar right there by the beach; you can get take-out food just at the east end...I also enjoyed walking through here to get towards the main tourist street. Pretty, quiet, a nice escape.
Nice area to escape the noise of Waikiki Beach. Go there first thing before 9 AM and rent early bird umbrella and lounger for good price.
Fort DeRussy Beach Park is perhaps the least crowded beach in Waikiki. The beach walk goes right by it and there are public bathrooms and showers. It has snack bars and a Hilton restaurant right on the beach. The water is not rough in the winter so kids could swim here.
From the boardwalk to the DeRussy Museum to the hotels.. a shaded sweet walk among the athletic facilities, fields and paths.
very nice park to spend a relaxing day. This park offers chair and umbrella rentals as well as water sport equipment. It is not as crowded as the main beach near the large hotels. There are a couple of reasonably priced beach bars. The Hilton Hawaiian Village and lagoon is close. There is also facilities for grilling and having picnics.
The park is military, but it is open to the public. Instead to the wall-to-wall hotels and narrow strip of beach in the rest of Waikiki, there are acres of lawn with trees, picnic tables, and places to barbecue. There is a military hotel with lovely landscaping set back from the beach. Most of those facilities are not available to the public. The beach fronting the park is broad and beautiful.
Ft DeRussy, our Army Base in Waikiki, has a great bar, open to the public, $3 shaved ice and much more!!
