October is a wonderful time to enjoy the fall colours at the Cape Breton HIghlands National Park and the weather is great for hiking.
Don't let the cold and the wet stop you, the views are well worth the effort regardless of the season!
There are no words to describe this! If you are thinking of taking a trip to Cape Breton, DO IT! if you are not thinking about it, DO IT!!! You will not regret it!
In our numerous trips to Cape Breton, we have travelled around the Cabot Trail in fog, in bright sunlight, in light rain and at night. It truly has many wonderful places to stop for food, for souvenirs, for pictures and for whale watching. But the golf -- my goodness it's incredible. As an avid golfer averaging +- 100 rounds per year on my home course, I enjoy playing Cape Breton courses the most, including Highland Links located just inside Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The starters always pair me up with 3 local players, usually members, whose company and humour I thoroughly enjoy.
We did few trails and were very lacky with weather. September is beautiful time for visit Cape Breton Highlands National Park. There are not too many people around and no mosquitoes. We loved Skyline Trail. Highly recommend !
My husband and I travelled the Cape Breton Highlands National Park in September 2014 for the first time in many years. We were quickly reminded of how beautiful Cape Breton really is. We hiked a number of the trails and enjoyed the amazing sunsets. We were delighted to see a number of bald eagles and of course a few moose. The Skyline Trail is an absolute must see. The hike in is flat and easy walking; there were people of all ages and fitness abilities enjoying the walk. We also enjoyed a number of shorter hikes and a couple of waterfall hikes. There are some lovely restaurants and shops along the trail. If you've never been...definitely worth the visit; if you have been...worth another visit! We plan on going back again this fall.
The Cape Breton Highlands National Park has some nice views of the ocean and the surrounding area, and is big enough to spend an entire day there, if you make the full trip around it like we did.
It's worth to drive and Stay at this Beautiful Provincial Park and lots of exiting place to stop while driving around Cape Breton it's a wonderful experience to see the most beautiful Park. I will go back here again and again ,,, see u next summer !
We visited the park as part of a recent transatlantic cruise. We rented a car in Sydney for the day. The drive to the park is long, but easy, including a very short ferry ride. The drive along the coast is spectacular and not to be missed. Ingonish is a nice small town with good restaurants, fuel, ATM, etc. - everything you need for a trip into the park. We will return to the area when we have time for a proper visit; one day is just to little time.
