Dear Holly, thanks for your feedback and I’m sorry that we fell short of meeting your expectations on the Christmas Express Steam Train on Sunday. The trip was part of our ‘Santa Sunday’ event that was happening at the Museum and because there is only one Santa he stays at the Museum throughout the day to be part of that event. As such we are very careful not to promote the trip as a ‘Santa’ steam train. Our Museum staff were in festive style clothes and handed out activities bags which included a Christmas themed activity. Sorry about the situation with the strollers and we’ll discuss with Queensland Rail how we can manage this better on trips that include historic platforms where they are much shorter than modern suburban platforms. We will also speak with the organisation that controls the historic Grandchester station about adding a change table in the toilets to make the experience better for people with young children. Sorry about your experience with the train ride and jumping castle in relation to payment. In addition to paying cash at the ride we also have the option of paying by EFTPOS in our Museum Shop and they will give the visitor a ticket for the ride. However, it looks like this message didn’t make its way to you on what was a very busy day. We’re in the process of updating our signage for the rides so we will include this information on the new signs.
