We are currently living on St Helena Island completing a short term work contract. We had never experienced Craig's RIB or whale watching trips, so having been here for a while felt we really should do so. You certainly will not be disappointed! Craig made sure everyone was safely on-board and gave a detailed safety overview before we set off across James Bay at speed. The trip was exhilarating and incredibly exciting and is well worth it with or without the presence of whales and dolphins. On this particular Friday evening, we were honoured to come across several humpback whales just off the coast who treated us to spectacular views of their tails. After watching them for a while Craig took us along the jagged coast for a great view of the rock faces and bird populations. Craig is also extremely knowledgeable and informative throughout. I would recommend his trips with or without whales as just a fabulous experience all round and not to be missed
Always a massive pleasure to dive with and go on boat trips with Into the Blue. They are always incredibly professional and pay much attention to safety and comfort. We had the pleasure of spotting MANY MANY whales with them this year during the Humpback season and looking forward to joining them on the whale shark trips soon. Highly recommended!
I was lucky enough to take one of Craig's trips in November 2014 whilst briefly visiting the island. Craig had indicated the possibility of seeing dolphins from the boat and to his credit he was able to spot several of these amazing creatures after an hour or so of scouring the shoreline and horizon. Utterly magical. A wonderful morning.
Craig and Into the Blue opened up a whole new underwater world for me. with individualised and thorough training Craig took me through the PADI open water diving course starting in the pool, progressing into the sea and finally as a qualified diver onto a number of wonderful dives in the magnificent waters of St Helena. I've started at one of the best diving seas around - doesn't get much better...Not only that but some great whaling and dolphin watching trips in the stunning seas of St Helena
After zipping through James Bay, past Lemon Valley and to Egg Island in a quick time of 10 minutes Craig Yon employs his 'whale whispering' skills to conjure up half a dozen humpback whales. I've been on most of the trips he's run this year and nearly every time we see the whales, sometimes just their backs, others their flukes but often enough we see them full-breach out of calm waters or the heavy swells at South-West Point. On these boat trips I've seen bottlenose dolphins, rough-toothed dolphins and, best of all, the large pod of pantropical dolphins that jump several feet into the air, twisting and turning in mid-leap, sometimes right next to the boat. This pod is thought to be about 300 strong, and when they bow-ride and leap the sense of wonder amongst the passengers makes the air tingle. There are other boat tour operators on St Helena, like Craig they all have top grade spotting skills and typical St Helena charm, but for an evening trip Craig can't be beaten, in part due to the speed you get to where the whales mill and for the extra time you get to spend with them.I learned to dive with Craig, he's a patient teacher and fantastic dive leader. Into the Blue come highly recommended for diving, wildlife trips and water sports.
After an amazing vacation back to my home in Saint.Helena, I had the pleasure of of going on a water sport trip for my last weekend. The trip was carried out by Craig's nephew Kyle, who I am pleased to say is one of my best friends; he made sure that everyone had on their life jackets and were safe and comfortable inside the boat. I have never taken part in water sports before and therefore was slightly reluctant at first, but I am soo glad I did. It is an experience never to forget. For those people that are looking for an exhilarating experience than this is something I suggest to become apart of. The experience is both heart pounding and exhilarating and definitely something I would put on my bucket list and I am also hoping that this is something I will get to do again on my next visit. Much thanks goes to Kyle for arranging and conducting the trip and to Craig for allowing us to use the boat. I don't think I will do anything yet a while that will top this experience.
I was only on St Helena for a week and thus time was limited because of work commitments whilst there. However it was not all work without some play! "Into the Blue" in the form of Craig Yon provided a truly memorable Saturday afternoon experience by taking a group of us out for a fun couple of hours. We swam in the clear, calm waters around Lemon Valley and then Craig demonstrated his boat handling skills with some cute manoeuvres bringing us close to a sea of dolphins who appeared to be having as much fun as we were! A absolute must to be repeated if I ever get the chance.
Into the Blue comes highly recommend for their dolphin and whale watching trips. On a recent tour we were surrounded by hundreds of Pantropical dolphin playing and jumping around the boat - a truly unique and unforgettable experience. And as if this wasn't enough, we were then treated to a sighting of a Humpback Whale and her calf. Captain Craig Yon knows exactly where to look for these fantastic animals, and his tours do not disappoint.Into the Blue is a professional outfit, and safety and respect for the natural environment are obvious concerns for the owners. If you are ever fortunate enough to visit St Helena, do not miss this wonderful experience.
An excellent trip to watch the humpback whales chilling in the sea. Fantastic to see them up close, Craig's boat allows you access unlike some of the bigger vessels. Also you can't beat speeding down the coast, even if you can get a bit wet! With Into the Blue you are practically guaranteed to see some amazing sealife, whether it is the humpback whales or the hundreds of dolphins who enjoy showing off to visitors. A great trip that we are certain to book on again!
I was on St Helena for a few months of work and met with the one and only Craig Yon.Craig is a highly experienced Padi instructor and I decided to enroll in his Open water diver course.During the duration of the course we became firm friends and I found him to be both very patient and knowledgeable both about the area and his teaching technique. He took lots of time to ensure that I was comfortable with both the speed and learning points of the course.Having successfully completed the course in record time,I then proceeded to dive with Craig and others during my time on St Helena.I would have no trouble in recommending Craig and "into the Blue" to anyone wishing to either learn to Scuba dive or indeed to go diving with him.His equipment is top notch and there is always a fun element to the dives.Fantastic time and I wish I was still there.
