We were fortunate to had visited the day of a concert. The organ recital was excellent and the sound projected so well as it radiated throughout the massive interior. The grounds are lovely and the interior is of course still a work in progress that continue to progress.
It is a light, beautiful cathedral - a landmark of the City. That' s where the newly-wedds go to have their photo taken (the bridge leading to cathedral is covered with love keys). I consider myself lucky as I had the opportunity to hear the organ concert in the Cathedral. It sounded magnificient! Alledgedly the best organ around the Baltic Sea.
Although not in English you can see some old pictures of Konigsberg. It is impressing to see what is left of the old city right now. Besides that you can read and learn more about Immanuel Kant.
The museum is built on three floors with E Kant is the central figure. The Russian/German historians did a great job collecting, restoring and displaying a pig collection of artifacts from that period(coins, buttons, keys and more).
rebuillt as destroyed- + now designed thks to the soviet union as an architectural museum without the original altars.shame it is no longer a church but given most of the centre has been rebuilt with soviet ugly blocks- worth a visit anyway...
The cathedral sits in pleasant isolation on a small island in the middle of Kaliningrad, there are small orthodox and catholic chapels in the building but its main purpose would appear to be as a concert hall. Everyday at 14:00 there is an organ recital on the cathedral's massive organ, a wonderful instrument expertly played.
A beautiful cathedral, which was renovated. It is a symbol of old Keningsberg, before the city became part of Russia. The surroundings are beautiful as well. Famous Emmanuel Kant was burried here. Although I did not have a chance, it is recomended to hear the organ playing.
Located on Kant island colored in dark red and yellow. Numbers of extended windows and tower with clock create an impression ща old gothic cathedral.
Fans of churches and German nostalgics may get more out of it.
The old Cathedral. The Museum of the Cathedral's restoration. Library. The city history Museum. Death mask of Kant. The Tomb Of Immanuel Kant.
