This museum is well laid out and admission is free. You need to put your camera in a secure locker. The curator will explain the layout of the building and tell you a bit about the background history of German and Scandinavian settlers, mostly of Lutheran background and how they came to purchase land in this region of Brazil After that you are left to explore the upper floors on your own. Lots of early photos and interesting personal possessions are on display - especially engraved plates, mugs and other crockery. The visit should not take more than an hour and outside there is a chalet and barn recreated in the Germanic style complete with authentic carriages and farm equipment from the period. If you are in Joinville then I think a visit to this museum is worthwhile.
Very interesting to have a look at the immigration in southern Brazil. Not the best nor the biggest. Blumenau has a better all around felling of the immigration.
Very interesting museum about the early history of the city, mainly about the German immigrants, I love the house behind the museum, a true relic, transported piece by piece from the outskirts of the city to the grounds of the museum. the place is dear to my heart since I was born and raised in Joinville, and as a child I used to roam the grounds and explore it with my brother, love the old bicycles.
