It's a historical and cultural museum under the sky. It's a big forest and the place where you can walk and rest with your family. it's 40 km far from the Kemerovo. It takes about an hour to get there by car. A lot of folk fests are hold there in summer and winter. It's a realy good tplace and it's worth of visiting.
Tomskaya Pisanitsa is a unique place, famous for the ancient petroglyphs (rock engravings). The stone wall covered with petroglyphs is not very large, but rather impressive. Unfortunately some minor parts were spoiled by vandals when the place was not guarded enough. But the untouched parts are worth seeing. On the territory of this Museum in the open air there are several indoor expositions, related to petroglyphs in Siberia, ancient tombs, everyday life of indigenous peoples, etc. There also some non-historical attractions - an orthodox church, a zoo, a number of cafes and pavilions. The surrounding nature is splendid. The entrance fee is 150 roubles for Russian citizens, 200 roubles for citizens of other countries, 100 roubles for children and students. During weekends the entrance fee for Russian citizens is higher - 200 roubles for adults and 150 roubles for children and students. All in all, Tomskaya Pisanitsa is a good place to spend a day-off with family, a bit far from the city though. My husband's parents say that it's worth visiting in winter as well.
Although a little far from Kemerovo ,excellent natural park, plenty of information, zoo, ancient huse designs of houses , the form of life in Siberia, well worth a visit , really nead the whole day there.
We went there on Sunday the 24th November - Mother´s Day in Russia - and had a brilliant couple of hours. It was snowing and the place was even more magical; there were activities on to keep visitors amused, and also the River Tom has just started to ice up, so there were lots of big chunks of ice joining together as winter sets in. They are attempting to develop the sites sympathetically with nature. There is no information available for any visitors in any language except Russian - and this is typical for the majority of places in Siberia at the moment - but I am working with students from our university in Kemerovo to try and rectify this situation as a means of attracting more tourism, or at least helping those who visit to undestand about the history of sites are. A tip for foreigners - keep your mouth shut and your head down at the entrance gates and let your Russian friends buy the tickets, because by law foreigners get charged a lot more to enter museums or attractions everywhere in Russia! I would definitely go there again, maybe in the late spring when everywhere is in flower..
