Great food, great atmosphere- awesome place for some aprés after a day at the 'Loaf. We'll be back...
I just want to start off by saying I have never encountered any service as demeaning and rude as I have this past weekend. Myself, as well as a large group look forward going to the Rack every time we go up to Sugarloaf. I attempted to order a drink from any bartender, but I kept getting ignored (even though I was standing right next to the cash register). So, I put my hand in the air (not waving, flailing, or being rude by any means mind you) in hopes that it would strike someone’s attention. The BRUNETTE ugly bartender with the horribly tacky necklaces on decided to come over to me wave her hands in my face, gave me this god awful rude look and then walked away. She came back over to me and finally asked me what I wanted. I apologized if my hand in the air offended her, but that was not my intention. She proceeded to be rude and said “what do you want?” I looked at her with pure disdain and said…”ya know what I want nothing from you.” COME TO FIND OUT …everyone else at the bar had the same reactions towards her and she was THE MANAGER. So, no complaints could have been filed that night.Another patron ordered a drink and because they took too long to pay she walked away and said “F*** THIS….im not dealing with you.” (The drink went unpaid). An older couple in their 70’s (who indicated that they were regulars) also had the same complaints. They mentioned they owned their own business and they have never been treated that way in their entire lives and not even by customers. So, because my attempt to speak with a manager failed, I hope that the bar owner is smart enough to fire this dumb broad for THE WORST customer service EVER known to any man/woman, lack of consideration for her owners money (many drinks were not purchased), and for also being completely evil. FIRE the nasty ugly W**** and maybe you’ll make more money.
We went for dinner during the Maine February vacation week. We looked at the daily specials that are printed on their menu and asked about them. The waitress says "Oh, those are not available during holiday or school break weeks". BUT...there was NOTHING on the menu that stated that. The weekly deals are the weekly deals unless there is a disclaimer that says "deals not available during holiday weeks". We should have fought it with the manager but didn't and spent too much money on a family of 4. It's high priced since it's on the mountain.
Outstanding! Absolutely loved the decor and atmosphere! Definitely a great place to sling back a few brews, chat with friends, listen to the going ons, and depending on what time or what part of the pub you're in...chillax! This is not some uptight place..it's casual, fun dining! Leave your stress at the door because there is no way anyone hear will let you be in a foul mood. The waitresses, hostess, and owner were SUPER friendly. Our waitress was funny and so kind to our kids! Oh ya..kids can go too! We went about 4-7 pm and the atmosphere was fine for kids! They loved looking at all the cool art, trinkets, and memorabilia! They did not get bored at all so mommy and daddy could enjoy their meal and cocktail! ;) I should probably mention the food...YUM! We had the avocado dip...sooo good! The best I've had! Wings were delish! And pizza was scrumptious. When we had back to Eustis or Sugarloaf this place will definitely be on the radar! We tried to eat here when my hubby ran the Marathon up there....Rack was closed and not open for season, but this might be good for your business?? Can't wait for round two! Thanks for the memory...!!!
Excellent place to chill out with a beer, BBQ (great ribs & burgers), and friends... revel and bloviate over the snow day on the awesome Sugarloaf mountain terrain (just up the hill)... Great apres-ski atmosphere... can get crowded after the lifts shutdown and most often standing room only when the band starts, but don't let that stop you... One of the best venues in the Carrabassett Valley and a distinctive 'Down East' experience... if you want quiet and peaceful discussion time, you may want to continue to the next restaurant. Oh... and the Rack is part owned by 2-time Olympic Snowboard Gold Medalist Seth Wescott (can you say star-struck).
Lot's of locals at this bar that has live entertainment many nights.Have been many times and have always had good service and some great beer selections. Had an amazing carmalized onion pizza on our last visit. The bar can get really crazy at times(ReggaeFest weekend for example), but for the most part is a fun family destination.
We have been coming to Sugarloaf for years and this year decided to try the Rack. We immediately felt our waitress (blonde with accent) was unfriendly. We ordered drinks and she took a close look at our IDs and had to take one away to take a closer look. Ok unfamilar id totally understandable. PS they don't have a scanner. She brought back our IDs, went to my sister and said your ID is fake. Her exact words. She accused my 28 y.o. sister of having a fake ID and accused her of basically something she couldn't prove. It is real! She was rude from the beginning and made our experience there horrible. We will be sure to tell the rest of our group to avoid this place and share it with you all so you are not treated like we were...we got up and left after being denied a manager. Go to the Shipyard instead. Much better food and wonderful service.
it's definitely a social place but the service and food is fair. hoped for a better choice of beers.
I was reading some reviews on here but did not experience any poor service (I did not go to the bar though). The hostess and waitress were friendly and both very time efficient. There were four of us and a baby. We had The Jefe burger and Hog Heaven which were delicious! The other two meals I did not try but The Haddock sandwich and Avalanche of Meat were also described as great. With a baby, it can be not as relaxing at times (even though she was actually excellent) and the waitress was very good at timing out our meals plus dessert. The beer was tasty too. Definitely recommend.
two words...CHICKEN WINGS!! and ribs and everything!!Owner Seth Wescott, that's right! The place has all sorts of memorabilia from the mountain and his career. Great bands and again, rockin food..I wish they would open for lunch but its worth the wait!
