My husband and I floated part of the Narrows of the Harpeth and it was lovely. During our week stay in Franklin TN we ventured into many of the nature opportunities in the area and often came upon any part of the Narrows of the Harpeth. It's very pretty countryside with the lovely Narrows winding through it. We stopped at one of the Narrows of the Harpeth State Parks and took a stroll on a nature trail too.
Attended a wedding on top of the hill overlooking the river. Beautiful sight.
There are a number of companies providing canoe/kayak rentals for this stretch of the Harpeth River, but beyond paddling the lengthy river itself there's not much else to do and few pull-out locations.
a great place to canoe. Safe for familys. Very scenic. Lots of places to stop and swim or eat lunch.
Our experience on the Harpeth could not have gone down much smoother. However, when we got back to the rental spot, they could not find our car keys (which we'd left with them) and they resisted looking around their office for them. After our 3rd attempt and about 30 minutes of back and forth requesting that they search other places for our keys - other than the designated bucket - they found them in the back of one of their desk drawers. Whew! I had to deduct a star for that...otherwise, it would've been a perfect 5 star day. We will definitely use Foggy Bottom again, but we'll take our keys with us in an airtight container next time. :-)
If your in the area and interested in Tennessee's history, the old tunnel here can be seen following a short scenic detour off Hwy 70 and a short flight of stairs from the parking area. Too bad vandals and/or yahoos have done some damage over the years.
Good kayaking and canoeing... make sure you check out the waterfall at almost the end. Dirty water because of cows and farms but nature is dirty.
Excellent place to launch a canoe for a day trip. Beautiful views from the top of the bluffs Amazing historic waterfall. No crowds.
Great place to go with family or couples. Fun hiking. Great kayaking and river fun. Camping down the road at Montgomery Bell state park.
Beautiful view, slightly challenging hike to the top, but worth it!
