This monastery is considered the second largest after the one at Dalhousie. Nice and calm place.mdo make it a part of your agenda if you are in that region. Some tit-bit shopping also possible but the monastery itself is a big attraction there.
must visit for the sheer beauty and to understand the simplicity of buddhism. This is a religious place all are welcome but please don't go scantily dressed.Food is available in nearby stalls, but recommend carrying some in case you have kids.
Called the - Golden temple, its a beautiful place. You can see an entirely new culture. Prayer hall is big with colorful paintings all over. Spend some time in beautifully maintained garden, click photographs.Buy some show pieces from monastery run shop. Outside monastery, one local sugarcane juice stall is there, try it. Best and fresh. ;)
Huge Buddha statue in the prayer hall is very sure to take out all the stress in u. The temple is surrounded by monasteries, gardens and a absolute peaceful atmosphere.Don't miss the noodles in the Temple restaurant near the parking lot.
One of best tourist attractions to visit enroute to Coorg. The Monastery is around 6 Kms from the Highway. The place is well maintained and clean, the only problem is the parking is quite far from the monastery.
A great place with a good atmosphere. Maintained well. We are allowed to sit inside the temple and listen to the chants by the monks. There are food stalls nearby in case you get hungry.
A major attraction for the travellers visiting Coorg. A must visit !! Take a note of the operational hours. It closes by 7pm.
Its a quiet place where you can enjoy a peaceful bliss. Its very clean and well arranged. The exterior view is very photogenic.
About 1.5 hrs drive from Madikeri, this place is very similar to Dharamshala and inhabitates about 20,000 Tibetans. The Monastery is beautiful with serene Buddha relics and still photography is allowed. the best way to enjoy the place is to be silent and imbibe the calmness around you. The whole campus has Tibetans bustling and carrying on with their day to day activities. The school within the area has young children running and playing around, which was fun to seeA nice place to visit and see another evidence of the various cultures co-existing in India
when the tibetans came this side as refugees ,no one gave them much chance of survival. They were hard working , grew the food ,later the monastery . For any one who has not seen ladakh or Bhutan ,this place is it .Huge statues of various Buddha ,his disciples are worth watching . Prayer hall is big ,gives a serene feeling .Go with an open mind ,relax , don't rush .... You will like it
