We tried looking at La Paz from many viewpoints and in my opinion, this was the best. There's nothing there except the view, but given that it was free (at least for us, though we went on New Years and it looked like they may have just been letting people enter freely as an exception) it was definitely worth it. Even if a small fee, I would still highly recommend.I suggest getting a taxi up there as it's very steep through non-pedestrian friendly streets. We did walk down which I found to be fine, however. It was only about a 15 minute walk to Plaza Murillo, which works well as long as you're comfortable walking through rough avenues.
Is a steep walk - but worth it for the views.Take 30 mins from San Francisco church. We ran this each morning during our week in La Paz. It's safe, clean & a nice place to visit with outstanding views of La Paz!
Grab the bus for El Pabon on Ayacucho street. The view is impressive in all directions. A good place just to sit quietly and appreciate the Andes. When I was there, one guy was teaching songs to another on pan flutes, made for a nice background. Walk back down using the stairs through the neighborhood.
is an ideal place to see the city center from up high. It is very quiet, not to much people, excelent spot for a nice sunset
It was nice to have a 360 view of the city from above, however the area is not nice and there isn't anything else to do around there- So if you want a coffee, or a bite to eat there is nothing around, toilets are not clean either and since is not close to anything go prepared- I saw a lot of young couples kissing and I just didn't feel very safe or comfortable. Yes is a nice view but I would go on the cable car first or just stop on your way down from the airport and take some nice shots of the city rather than going there again.
If you take the city tour bus (central route), they will stop there for about 10 minutes so you can soak in the view and take photos.Combine this with a ride up the yellow cableway and you have seen all of La Paz.
I like to take panoramas in the uprising and also in the sunset, if you want to see how drastic looks LP, it's the perfect point of view, one of my favorites, also to take a friend on the first days in LP.
Though it can be challenging to find if you aren't a local the mirador offers spectacular views of La Paz, including the stadium and Illimani. On clear days Sierra Potosi is visible, there is currently no charge to visit.
The iconic photo of LA Paz has the mountain and the football stadium in the foreground. Killi Killi is the best place for this photo. It also provides great views over the city.My advice is to get a radio taxi there and soak it up, before walking back towards plaza San Francisco.
