San Francisco is a central spot with lots of activities. Nice place to people watch. We had no problems but do get local advice on safety if you'll be there late in the evenings or at night.
The Church is quite impressive all though a lot smaller than I was expecting. Next door there is a museum with a wide collection of art that was pretty good. I actually preferred the Basilica further up the road.
The church itself is big and is nice to see all the people around it, when I went for the first time there was a graduation going on and it was cool to see the locals there celebrating however the church itself is nothing extra special in terms of architecture or internal decoration. However I love that area, it has a cool street just by it which is perfect to walk around, buy local souvenirs, have a coffee and just chill, I other often on the weekends, love the area to walk.
Nice place to vista for an afternoon if you get stuck out in the rain. Some nice architecture, gives a brief history of La Paz and has some very nice art work.
This church is close to the witch market which is an area packed with attractions. The crurch itself is old and the interior is very well preserved. The outside is really intricate and just looking at the entrance is a treat.
Its free...its beautifull ....its....huge...images....it takes you back in time as soon as you get in....not sure if you can take pictures I guess you can....only at the museums you are not allowed to take pictures...
This is an very impressing place to see, with art and artifacts all over its almost required to visit this place more than once. I had a great time for hours walking around this huge place which is open to public from the church floor to the spire with the bells. Especially one of the bells there is worth seeing because of its nearly 400 years history.
amazing colonial old church in the center of la paz.our hotel was located very close to this church so we have had the chance to see it at different times of the day. quaint spot
It is an icon of La PAz, Life generates around it. The barroque architecture is very pretty and its shear size imposes, The altar is gorgeous. It is a must see.
I came to the church in the evening towards the end of a service. I only had about 20 minutes inside so we quickly made a round and ended up seeing most of the statues displayed. The day must have been quite sacred beause there was this little candle filled room that people were crawling into, but we didn't have time to go inside. As we were all filing out of the church, they turned off the lights and everyone was scrambling to get out in the dark, which lead to a creepy sort of vibe. If I end up going back to Bolivia, I am definitely going to make it a point of visiting again and see some of the things I had missed.
