Our family of five paid $25/per person for a half-hour trail ride, plus a tip for our guide. The price was reasonable and for beginners like us, 30 minutes was a good amount of time. The horses selected for us were calm and sure-footed as we navigated the sometimes hilly and rocky trail. Our guide Mika was friendly and informative, but not overly chatty. I would definitely go back next time we are in the Lake George area!
Everyone here is so nice and accommodating! The family all pitches in (even their small grandkids were there!) The horses are very well cared for. Our tour guides Alicia (and another young woman I didnt know her name) were very sweet and knowledgeable! We will be returning WITH our children in the summer!
My 14-year old son and I like to ride when we go camping, so we asked around Lake Luzerne and Bennett's came up as a good local choice. We were not disappointed. We had the choice of 1 hour, 2 hour mountain and 2 hour dinner rides. Because it was early in the season, there were not enough riders to do the dinner ride, but the mountain ride was a fantastic choice. If you have never been on a horse, this is not the ride for you, but for those who can handle a 2-hour ride, the trails are good and the view at the top is spectacular. It was nice to give the horses a rest (and our legs, too) at the top.You can tell Bennett's take very good care of the horses. They were well groomed and also well trained. Riders under 18 are required to wear a helmet, which is a good thing, and suggested for adults, but not required. Julie was our guide and she was great. They offer trips multiple times per day. Make sure you call 24 hours in advance to do a dinner ride. They have to haul all the fixings up to the top of the mountain. Well worth the money.
My husband and I went trail riding. We were the only 2 people, so this made it extra special. My husband was on a slow horse so I think that frustrated him since he was more experienced than me as a rider. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and trails. Our guide was great and very sociable. She made it a pleasant ride for us. I would like to go back another time to take the 2 1/2 trail ride to the top of the mountain. I was told Bennett's had the best riding trails. I was pleased. Cost was fair $40.00.
Great trail ride a few minutes from Lake George! Super nice owner who made sure each rider had the appropriate horse!
We had to wait, but the area is pleasant & there's time to pet & talk to the horses. The ride was quiet and easy (our choice) through rolling hills dappled with sunlight through the trees.
Bennett's Riding Stables offers snowmobile tours during the winter but isn't listed on Tripadvisor as a business. I want to suggest they should be! Had a great time there yesterday - first time snowmobile driver at age 55! This family-owned business stresses safety and observation of snowmobiling rules on a guided tour of designated trails. We (including my 25 yr old guest) and another group of 6 riders were escorted with two experienced and expert guides for a two hour ride, including a stop on top of Prospect Mountain. The view was gorgeous! Anyway, the staff was friendly and helpful, especially with suggestions for attire when I called to make reservation. Only thing they didn't suggest and I will do in the future - bring water. Felt dehydrated and would have appreciated a drink when we stopped on the mountain. Just a ton of fun and want to go again soon! No bathrooms and no food/beverages available onsite, but close by, so make prior stops.
I've taken my kids here for years 1-3x/year. The 30 trail ride is well staffed and mostly organized. The selection of horses is good. The setting is country without being out of the way. The ride is mostly shaded and takes you up rather steep, well maintained/groomed dirt trails. Views in the 30 min ride are simply woods but it's serene. The horses are all Western from what I saw and well behaved even for young riders. Younger kids can have their horse tethered so they feel like they are fully riding. Much better than a pony ride. A downside is they only walk, at least if inexperienced riders are with you. So if you need speed go elsewhere. One hour rides are prettier. Haven't tried the 3 hour dinner ride. But I know the chef takes an ATV to a mountain view and cooks steaks and fixings. Sounds fun. In the winter I plan to try the snowmobile tours on the same trails. Enjoy!!
What a beautiful trail ride! The staff was sooo nice and really tried to match us up with horses that were appropriate for our level of experience. The scenery was awesome. My daughter and I had good, responsive horses. Would highly recommend this stable to any level of rider !
My boyfriend brought us here as part of our anniversary weekend in Lake George since I have been dying to be back on a horse again. I rode and showed horses my whole life up until college. It has been four years since the last time I rode but it felt so nice to be back on a horse again and this was the perfect place for it. The location is rural and not touristy at all which we loved. He booked us the mountain trail ride that took about 2.5 hours. We arrived early but no problem I was able to pet all the horses and enjoy that smell of their fur that only horse lovers would appreciate :) We started out only 30 minutes late because there was a walk in pony ride for a little girl, no problem for us though. We signed out liability forms and talked a little about skill level to pick the horses. Most of the horses were well behaved and the slow mellow kind but there were a couple faster friskier horses that were available for experienced riders. I wanted one not too slow but compared to what Im used to she was pretty mellow and an easy ride. I wish I didnt forget the name! Fine with me for my first time back and my boyfriend had Dylan who is for beginners since he has only rode once when little. Dylan had some personal space/ kicking issues and had to be in the back of the line right behind me. I actually thought my horse was more suited for a beginner since Dylan liked to keep on moving and try to pass the other horses and he needed a little more control or at least that day. Remember horses are unpredictable and the guides are not to blame if something goes wrong. However by the end of the ride they were like best friends and Dylan was well behaved after he tired a bit. The mountain ride was BEAUTIFUL! Especially once we were at the top and had the chance of a break to walk around and take in the view. It was an amazing view and the ride through the trails to the top was so relaxing. It was tiring but it flew by and I cannot complain, it was a great way to experience the Adirondacks. The guides were funny and told jokes/ stories some of the way and even let us trot in flat spots. The only complaint would be that there should be more explanation for beginners. The guides explained fast but for beginners it is hard just to hop on and be okay I think there should be a little more attention and guidance before the ride begins. I ended up coaching him through it the best I could so he felt more comfortable since he wasnt really sure how to hold the reins or any commands. Otherwise this is a great place to ride, wonderful views and a relaxing fun experience. Thank you for giving us an unforgettable time!
