It's a 45 minute bumpy jeep ride to get there but worth the effort. Geological phenomena that is more than worth the trip. Beautiful views of Molokai from on top the vista and if you're lucky, there's Muflon sheep visible in the lower pastures. Beware large mud holes on last mile of trip in...get some speed up to plow on through.

Not that bumpy or difficult to get there over a dirt road. We parked at the entry sign and hiked all around to get a feel of the place. The road goes on to a beach but we heard that it was difficult. Indeed, on our hike we saw what was at least a four foot deep rut in the road. No way did we want to drive that way.

As one of the few things to do on Lanai it is a must see. Difficult to get to especially after rain but the Jeep we rented was able to handle the several water crossings. It really is just an area covered with rock piles, but we enjoyed it. Took about 45 minutes to get to from lanai city.

If you like "moonscapes" and lots of various red rocks, it's ok, but not sure if I'd take the time to do it again.... It's quite an interesting road trip as far as the driving goes, no doubt...

If you have transportation (ie. a jeep) you need to see this place. Choose your day carefully - preferably after a few dry days. The road has a couple of places that can get dicey, and even in good conditions it is a 30 -35 minute drive. But when you get there it is other-worldly! Red dirt, random boulders and amazing vista views if you go far enough... If you continue down towards Polihua beach, be ready for another 35 minutes of tooth rattling, rock crawling, kidney punching jeep drive. Never got out of first gear. But once again, the effort is totally rewarded.

Enjoyed the jeep ride through the garden of the gods and kept going all the way to the beach. Very bumpy, red dirt trip... Glad we had a hard top jeep with AC to avoid the dust.

Never miss this if you are in Lanai! Never seen before amazing rock formations in acres of land. Very barren land and you forget this is Hawaii!!

It's nice up there but nothing you can't see by driving from other places. I wanted to write this to highlight the rental car situation. Dollar Rental had us sign the agreement and Afterwards told us spots we could and couldn't go based on conditions of the roads. We were OK to go to here but it was pretty hairy driving with many mud pits. They claimed that we dirtied up the car too much and charged us $78 for cleaning the outside. We definitely went through the water holes fast bc we didnt want to get stuck. They harped on not getting stuck. We drove normal and this is just their way to extract more money from you. I don't recommend renting a car on the island. I've been to Lanai 3x and this was the first time I rented, and besides the expense, it just wasn't that good.

We loved seeing the "natural" beauty of the Garden of the Gods. It is amazing how different all the Hawaiian islands are, but this is something people do not expect. Beautiful, deep red, rock formations. It was well worth the extremely bumpy, bumpy, bumpy journey. You have to have a 4WD jeep to handle this road-or lack of road. Once you have gotten to the Garden of the Gods be sure to continue down to Polihua Beach. It is the prettiest beach I've seen.

We were very disappointed when we attempted to get to the Garden of the Gods with our jeep. It was the day after a big storm on the island, and the road was bumpy and muddy. But we came to one spot where we could not get through, nor even walk around--too wide and too deep. If you are there in the rain, be aware that you may not make it many places as they flood.
