The ugliest mosque I have ever seen, you only see cats everywhere, waist of time, also nobody is there to tell you about the history
Situated on the bank of a salt lake in Larnaca, the place where the pink flamingos come to spend the winter, this mosque is the fourth praying place for the Muslim, after Mekka, Medina and Jerusalem. That is because here was buried the wet nurse of Prophet Mohammed, Umm Haram, after she died falling of a mule she was riding. Small and peaceful, this mosque is far from the greatness that Mekka, Medina and Al Aksa and Dome of the Rock possess. The building and the surroundings are very well taken care of and the salt lake gives a touch of serenity to the whole complex. You can reach it by bus, cab or walking there.
This is a pleasant looking building from the outside, on the edge of Larnaca Salt Lake, but is not all that impressive overall.Whilst it has significance for Muslims, being the place where Mohammed's wet nurse died, it is by all accounts very disappointing inside (it was closed when we arrived). The building is surrounded by an ugly metal fence and railings and the lake when we arrived was grey and grubby looking - none of which added to us wanting to spend much time there. Interesting as a brief stop on the way to the airport, but not somewhere I would have visited otherwise.
This mosque is along the gorgeous Salt Lake. While researching we told three different stories about the mosque but the common theme was that someone important to the Muslim faith died here and the Mosque is her memorial. You can go inside but we did not as people were praying. A surprise at the site were exposed ancient walls found to the left and under a building.
such an amazing peaceful elegant place, so beautiful really loved this place been here like times and many more to come in sha allah al aziz
Set in beautiful surroundings.Covered by a lake.Such a tranquil and peaceful place anybody will love to visit. The path leading up to the mosque is tricky to find but once you find it you will not be disappointed.Come see for yourself :)
First time I had the chance to see the interior of a mosque. Quite interesting and reported to be the grave of Muhammad's foster mother.
Is a place with a Tekke-old arabic place for praying. The place is just amazing-almost in a middle of the Salt Lake where is good for take a nice photos.Recommend to go to see this place and walk around as well!
I loved the view of Salt lake and this mosque together. It's really beautiful. You can also enter the mosque (of course it has the same rules as every mosque - you must enter without shoes and dressed properly - no naked body, women must cover their hair with scarf). Anyway there is nothing special inside - it looks like typical small mosque but if you have never been in a mosque I think it will be an intereting experience for you.
The Hala Sultan Tekke in Larnaca is one of the holiest places in Islam, being the place where the Muhammad's wetnurse died. The natural area that surrounds this attraction is very nice, close to the Salt Lake. The tekke is very nice from the architectural point of view, even if inside there is not well decorated. This is a place to visit and to relax in the beautiful natural area and along with the many cats that are living close. The entrance is free.
