I have seen and recommend seeing public parks in China. This one is a bit on the small side and doesn't have the amenities of large parks in other cities. I was most turned off by a petting zoo with rabbits and other animals inside a cage. They didn't seem well cared for.
Lanzhou's Xiaoxihu Park is pretty much a typical Chinese park, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth the time. If you in the Qilihe District of Lanzhou, it's not hard to get to - Bus 139 goes straight to the entrance. Summer time and the Spring Festival are the best time to go - Summer time for the plants, and the Spring Festival for the lights. The Flying Horse of Wuwei sits at the entrance of the park. The lake itself is just average, but there are a couple of cafes and there is a small amusement park inside. There are not a lot of people in the park most of the time, so it is pretty peaceful. If you've got the time, visit!
