I am very impressed with the updated WinRiver casino. Now non smoking, the place is elegant and classy with it's decor. Maybe to invite a better quality of customer, but they did not disappoint. While the older slot room was somewhat crowded and dark, they've really opened the place up and you can really appreciate the large Windows on the right hand wall and the new location of the food bar, one of many that offer surprising delicious food at decent prices for casino fare. I am incredibly impressed with this facelift.
The people that work there are wonderful for our events. Food is very good. Needs to have a little more security outside of the place. Rooms are some what smaller than normal. But nice...
We stayed here specifically because we were told it was 100% smoke free casino and hotel. That was a complete lie! As of Monday earlier this week they have smokers everywhere literally filling the air with cigarette smoke everywhere. However, they never changed any of the signage anywhere nor informed guests checking in. I have an allergy to cigarette smoke that causes headaches, nausea, sore throat, and difficulty breathing. Just being inside for a few minutes caused me to have a reaction and the horrible smell lingered in my clothing and hair. We stayed in the RV parking and even checking in were surrounded by smoke. Because we have 4 small children we will NOT be staying there again while it is a smoking casino. I feel bad for all of the employees who now have to be surrounded by smoke and the health consequences employment will have.
We have been going ti Win River for a long time. Smoke in there is terrible. When they went to smoke free it was great. The reason for going smoke free according to management was " for the health of our customers and employees " we will be a smoke free casino. Later they even said the gaming had gone up by 8%. Now because some of the smokers wanted to smoke, they went back to a smoking casino. Guess they do not care about the health of their customers or employees. Their revenue went up 8%, what does that tell them? Smoke free is maybe good? The other thing that I do not understand is their slogan, " it's Better on the River". They are located on Clear Creek, not the river, they are probably a good half mile from it. Deceiving, very deceiving.Just my $0.02, and yes I know it is just that. Oh well.
In mid February, the policy changed from a complete non-smoking casino/hotel to ALL smoking. Yuk. I won't be back.
We frequent WR because it's close to home, but their payouts are quite average. There are enough machines that you can always find something interesting to play on. They seem to pepper in new ones fairly often. They recently took out the snack bar and replaced it with coffee which was a DREADFUL mistake in our opinion and that of many other guests we've visited with. BRING BACK THE SNACK BAR!!!!!!!!
This is is worst place we have ever stayed .. The staff is beyond rude .. The hotel is just horrible .. You will regret staying here .. Go to rolling hills or thunder valley , they actually are in the hospitality business ... We will NEVER return here ..
We stayed here in their RV lot for $24 a night which was a nice deal. I didn't have much in the way of facilities for campers but the casino was right there and they also had a shuttle cart to take you to Casino if you needed it. The casino was clean and smoke free. We had dinner there in the bar, not a lot of places to choose to eat here but the food was pretty decent. Played a few slots but not much of a gambler so can't say much about it but it looked like a nice place to hang out. Overall it suited our needs which was a place to stay on our way south.
I go to Winn River whenever I visit my family in Redding. It's a fun casino but until recently the good slots were all in the smoking part of the casino. In fact, the door to the non smoking section was often left open so smoke filtered in where it shouldn't have gone. All that changed earlier this year when Winn River became the first or second (not sure which) totally non-smoking Indian casino in the state. Kudos, Winn-River on a great decision for everyone who plays at your place. They also opened a hotel which is nice. We stayed there before the non-smoking change went into effect but left after one night. The lobby door was permanently open to the smoking casino. Even the halls smelled smoky. Now that the policy has changed we will give the hotel another try. The other thing I like about this place is their involvement with the community. They are supportive of the domestic violence shelter and other groups.
For a local casino it is ok. Average food, clean. Not much entertainment brought in. Need better night life.
