you can get a amazing landscape of the valley and think about the past looking the marble statues inside the temple.
This copy of the Parthenon is gloriously situated on a hill above the Danube. It is worth visiting for the view alone. The great and the good are commemorated by statues on plinths in the huge inner room. There are very few Jews and women but it is interesting.
We went to Walhalla from Regensburg by ship which was a lovely ride! Visiting the building resumes to like stairs as there are a lot of them. Really a lot!Once upstairs you have a beautiful view!! Stay there for a while before you "climb" down again :)
You can either wlak or drive to the imposing Walhalla. The views from Walhalla are impressive (even on a snowy day), once inside the sheer size of the building is almost as impressive. The history timeline on display inside is interesting and (here's that word again!) impressive (some of the characters sligthly less so).Certainly worth the effort to visit because of where it is, the size of it and what it contains within.
We rode bikes here from our river boat and then climbed the steps to the top of the monument. It is very impressive looking out from the top. Small inside, not a lot to see really. The top flight of stairs is quite steep. There are not hand rails the entire way.
An impressive landmark with an impressive history all in itself. A must see when in the vicinity. Walking up the hill may be too strenuous for some though but there is a parking place behind the recreational area. A good preparation for the visit is the short history intro on the river cruise boat. It helps to know your Ludwig II and it helps even more to read up on the famous Germans you will find on display in the hall. For some, some of the fame has faded though and a guide booklet will be your saving grace ;-)
Driving out in the country side outside Regensburg is this impressive Greek influenced building. Inside are busts of famous Germans. Purchased the English book that explains everyone represented. The building is in a beautiful location along the Danube.
It takes a bit long time to reach there . And you walk too much to the temple. There is too many steps, ıt make difficult to go there. But finally you reach, feel really perfect. All regensburg and donau river on your foot. The temple has different style. It was built the highest point of regensburg, great feelling to be there.
Lovely architecture and a great workout if you want to walk all the stairs. No handrails, tough for older folks.
This copy of the Parthenon is gloriously situated on a hill above the Danube and can be seen quite clearly whilst on a Danube River Cruise. If we had more time in Regensburg I would have loved to visit. There are many steps to get to the actual building so accessibility may present a problem.
