To say a long story short - it perfect little harbour, if you are in Rethimno, you must visit it and meet a ship from continental Greece!
The food is great, but make sure you know in advance what they want to charge with these kind of places. Don't let them recommend something off the menu without informing you exactly of the price. I'm experienced with such places so i didn't fall for the trick, but I've heard the others have been unlucky.
nice old port for nice walk we had visit 5 times Rethymno and we like to take walk there. just take care the stuuf from fish tavernas there
A very pretty harbour. Several restaurants. We had lovely meal in one. They specialise in fish dishes but there is other choices on menu. The sea bream which had been caught that morning was delicious.
The restaurants right on the pier overlooking the harbor. Nothing to dislike. It can get quite busy but the little shops are a nice place to look around. The is a lovely beach close by as well.
Picturesque view across the harbour with numerous restaurants offering very similar cuisine at inflated prices. You are constantly badgered by people insisting you eat at their establishment because it's the only one that serves genuine Creatian food, it's all very good humour but gets tiring after a while. We had a light lunch at one, the sardines were smaller, inferior and cost more to the ones we had at restaulants away from this area.A morning stroll taking in the ambiance and stopping for a coffee is what I recommend, then a short stroll to the old town for lunch.
Rethymnon's harbour area was a great place for a wine and at one of the cafes and we were fortunate to have a chance to eat there, just for the atmosphere. There was a lot to see and enjoy with plenty of places of interest and places to walk to and generally enjoy the enormous amount Rethymnon had to offer.
A very pretty harbour with beautiful restaurants overflowing with seafood. Staff sometimes a little over eager to get you into their restaurant which can be a bit off putting but once you've decided you want to eat there you receive a wonderful experience, enjoying good food and a wonderful view. There's even a pirate ship for extra interest. It is a shame that graffiti has spoilt some of the buildings.
Beautiful place to walk around, but very expensive to eat and drink. Go back a street or two and find a little taverna. Take the little red train or the open top bus and see the sights.
The place around die old harbour looks very well. There are many, many restaurants. There are wellknown for fresh fish. But better you take only a walk und look for another restaurant. It is to expensive.
