Despite I've read some reviews that recommend to take the tour in the tower on the first day, I opted to go there on the 2. day. It was a bit expensive to get in (compared to other prices in Riga) but that also gave access to an exhibition inside the church.Getting to the tower takes place in a lift/elevator. There can't be that many people at the tower at the same time (around 20 max). However once you are there. the views of the river, old town, new town is absolutely astonishing. It's great for getting nice pictures, and get a view of the old town (which I presume you'll spend lots of time in). It's a must experience in Riga in my opinion. There were a lady working inside the church who, despite not speaking a single word of english, clearly wasn't helpful to us tourists not speaking latvian. She was rather aggressive towards me, and spoke a lot in latvian I didn't understand. Maybe a little course in customer care would be in place?
7 Euros to go up in a lift. A tiny observation platform on the spire of a very beautiful church. Cold. Very cold. Bitterly cold. And the view is fairly average, I thought.
It is a lovely thing to do and the views are lovely! However, if you are going in the winter, prepare for it to be absolutely freezing and very windy! You definitely need a hat and gloves on.
I used to pass this church for several years as a kid, but never went actually up there to see the view. However, as there was a fog around Riga and it's river Daugava - the vew was actually magical! It's worth to see once. But I'm not very sure about the high price - can't remember exactly now, but I think it was something like 10 euros just to get in the lift and get out to see the panoramic 360 degrees view. It does say you can stay up to 10 mins up there , but I can't see how you can spend so much time just looking... However - as I already mentioned - it's worth to do it once in your life.
7 Euros to get up the elevator. Easy and safe to walk around in the tower. Cold wind (March). Also a museum in the church.
I would recommend going up the tower towards the end of your visit, its great fun to see where you have been and to map out your routes. Great views and only 7 euro!
Beautiful church and great view from the top of the spire across the city, accessed by elevator. Charge 7 Euros pp
For the price, it didn't quite live up to expectations, but then the old town looks much prettier from the street. Also there are other viewpoints available here which are cheaper, so i've taken that into consideration for my verdict. The price also includes a chance to walk around inside the church though.
a beautiful church and a beautiful view. Reasonably priced for the view and exhibition within. A grand church and a grand tower
From the Tower you could admire all the city the view is about 360° you could see all the city monuments from the top of this tower. But if you will go in winter period take with you very warm dress because there is a very cold wind that arrive to you. I like this place very much. The curch inside is very simple.
